Weekly Weather Report

by Kathy Biehl

This is a week of gaining momentum and seeing progress. What happens now has roots that go back a year and ramifications that will play out until August, at the least. Pay attention. You’re getting evidence of where your life is heading and how far you have already come.

Think back to early February 2008. Something opened up then that had a significant effect on how your year played out. Whether it was an offer, an idea, a project or a direction, it pushed you onto an exhilarating and unforeseen course. The development required you to cut loose baggage and trust that you were shooting forward into the best of all possible worlds, even if you couldn’t quite make it out.

We’re getting another push forward now with Monday’s New Moon solar eclipse in Aquarius. This one promises to expand the journey into something grander, broader in impact and more healing than it has been – and that you previously dared to dream. The Sun and the Moon have two close attendants for their meeting: expansive, bounteous Jupiter, the last planet that the luminaries pass before their embrace, and the North Node of the Moon, which represents collective experience and destiny. Jupiter increases the impact and importance of this eclipse, while also insuring that its powers are used for your ultimate good. The North Node’s presence indicates that this lucky break is not just for you. You’re being taken somewhere that benefits everyone. The Node’s participation also means that all of us, together, are blossoming in ground-breaking ways. Recent political developments certainly demonstrate this. Our new president’s inaugural speech was filled with the language of change, and I marveled at how his choice of words, deliberately or not, verbalized every major astrological influence currently at work. I don’t have any knowledge that President Obama is accepting astrological guidance (in fact, from comments he’s made, I suspect he isn’t), but his sensibilities dovetail neatly with what the skies are impelling. That, in itself, is a sign in itself of how different our world is now.

The first culmination of this leg of the journey will come in two weeks, at the Leo Full Moon lunar eclipse. The closing credits will run at the beginning of August, when the Aquarius Full Moon lunar eclipse winds up the process that started last February and gives a behind-the-scenes look at it to boot. More information about the solar eclipse is in my Moon column on the site.

While the New Moon is still growing into a visible crescent, growth aspects activate another major body in Aquarius. Over the course of Monday and Tuesday, Venus, Mars and Mercury semi-sextile Neptune, and our hearts, actions and words all align with love. We are growing into a way of living that brings a spiritual component into the mundane. Watch how effortlessly and naturally you approach the beginning of the week with a knowing that the surface of events does not reveal their true, big-picture significance. You are approaching relationships and money, ambitions and communication with a newly developed compassion and wisdom. Neptune is also giving you the awareness that you are not alone. You have allies in spirit as well as in the flesh, and all of us on this planet are in this existence together. Points of commonality are easier to spot now, especially when the Sun meets the North Node mid-week and occasions a defining moment in global community. Burn those points of commonality into your heart and memory. They may not always be so clear.

Mercury has other business of note besides contacting Neptune. The messenger of the gods confers with Mars, the god of go-get-’em, at the beginning of the week. The excitement of their coming meeting permeates Monday, because it becomes exact during our sleep Tuesday morning. With words and movement coming together, it is time to walk your talk. This is part of a critical but often overlooked step in the Law of Attraction: After you have clearly defined what you want, you must take action to bring it into being. Tell people what you want and what you are trying to do. Promote yourself shamelessly. Call people, write to people, ask questions, gather data and make strategic plans. Put a pad by your bed Monday night. If you sit upright during the night, write down the action plan that’s erupting in your head – or jump up and get started on it. (Then go back to bed!) If you do sleep through the night, by all means make notes as soon as you wake up of the strategy that was just downloaded.

The rest of the week Mercury is slowing for the end of his retrograde. He goes direct Sunday at the degree where the Sun was at the January 10 Cancer Full Moon. What do you know now that you didn’t then? Mercury is picking up something valuable. A handy piece of information may well surface with usefulness that could stretch far into the year. Mercury has two opportunities to hand this information over to magnanimous Jupiter, who will be in Aquarius all year. Mercury meets him on the ecliptic soon after turning direct on Sunday and will see him again by longitude late next month. Whatever Jupiter gets hold of now he can carry forward through Aquarius all year long.
