The Aquarian emphasis continues in the skies, but our hearts and minds have moved on to Pisces. Today’s New Moon takes place in the last sign in the natural zodiac, which has an innate awareness of the interconnectedness of all being. We are entering this awareness of universality with a freshly honed sense and appreciation of our individual selves and life paths. This knowledge, and the jettisoning of significant, long-standing emotional baggage, now makes it possible for you to accept and love yourself and, by extension, all life. To put it simply: Now that you truly know yourself, you can truly love yourself. And once you love yourself, you can love and have compassion for anyone and everyone.
You have known this intellectually. Never before in our lifetimes has it been so within reach emotionally. The comfort level we have developed with the self in the last month is one major factor. Another is the nature of the planet that is the gatekeeper to this New Moon. It is ruled by Neptune (still in Aquarius and in mutual reception with Uranus), but the gatekeeper is Pluto. Pluto is the last planet that the Sun and the Moon contact before they merge in the New Moon. Every contact to Pluto in Capricorn has a streamlining, purifying and simplifying effect, stripping away rot and artifice and diseased bits. The contact that the Sun and the Moon are making to Pluto is a sextile, an easy opportunity aspect. With Pluto, this aspect holds the potential to empower and strengthen. Our egos and our hearts are getting a good pruning, trimming and buffing from Pluto as the final prep before their meeting. It’s like the ablutions we go through before an important date, but with a twist. Instead of using perfumes, cosmetics and clothing to hide flaws, we’re purging and releasing the concealments themselves. Because heart and ego will enter the New Moon so exposed, cleansed and true, their intermeshing will occur more deeply and thoroughly.
So this New Moon launches a new phase in emotional awareness and expression. Notice how the emotions you experience within yourself seep into your environment and the people around you. Notice how aware you are of the emotions that are being experienced by others around you. Notice, too, how much more gentle your emotional experience has become. You are no longer taking things so personally. Because you know yourself so much better, you are able to separate yourself from other people’s motivations. You are no longer mining your environment for evidence of your supposed unworthiness or for knifeblades to fall on and reopen old wounds. Secure in yourself, you are open to love. That’s the ultimate expression of the New Moon’s ruler Neptune: the higher octave of love, expressed here on earth through kindness and compassion. That is the gift of this New Moon and the guiding light for this new phase of your life.
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun and Moon at 7 Pisces is
ILLUMINATED BY A SHAFT OF LIGHT, A LARGE CROSS LIES ON ROCKS SURROUNDED BY SEA AND MIST.
Commentary: ‘Illuminated By a Shaft of Light, a Large Cross Lies on Rocks Surrounded By Sea and Mist’ is an image that inspires feelings of chaos and misplaced loyalties. It can feel as though something has been unjustly sacrificed and things have come to nothing. Christ was forsaken on ‘A Large Cross’. The ‘Cross’ can indicate a crucifix and can show the shouldering of faith and hope or trouble and misfortune. The ‘Shaft of Light’ indicates that spiritual and creative help is at hand.
Oracle: There could be a feeling that life has not been “good” enough. Thoughts of helplessness can come from feeling as though one’s life is finished and that all is lost. Perhaps one’s aim was too high and things have came crashing down. Feeling forsaken or used in relationships can lead the awful feeling of the loss of belonging or identity. It may indeed seem that much has been lost, but do we really have to continue to suffer so much? Seeing the positive or the spiritual messages that come in dark moments can shed new understandings that transcend even the most difficult times. With faith and a positive outcome in mind, you may experience a true awakening, or a reconnection with your spiritual ideals and hope for the future. A sign may come soon to show that you are on the right track to recovery of life and love. Letting go of outworn relationships, allegiances or beliefs will assist you to move on with a stronger sense of self. However, are there still some worthwhile and wonderful things that can be salvaged or things to be grateful for? Concentrate on ‘The Shaft of Light’ as this can lead you to see that ‘Light’ is indeed all around you.
