Weekly Weather Report

by Kathy Biehl

It’s an understatement to call this week dynamic. The Sun and the Moon are reactivating the Saturn/Uranus opposition and bringing the tensions of the first week of February back to life. We took matters as far as we could then; now another layer of the onion is being ripped away and revealing deeper issues yet to be resolved. As intense as they feel, they’re just another stage in an ongoing process of catharsis and liberation. More and more, our minds are getting the message that they no longer have to assume the dominant role. We’re growing into a heart-based approach to life.

Early rumbling of this has been hitting a lot of people over the past couple of weeks, with the Sun and Mercury stirring the waters of Pisces and Mars moving across the fog of the sign’s ruler Neptune. If you have been feeling blue, weepy, despairing or despondent to the point of wanting to give up, you have had a lot of company. Mars/Neptune contacts make it difficult to see where effort is leading – or whether it is leading anywhere at all. Without that kind of gratification, the mind can confuse us into assuming that it’s futile to continue trying. The mind can confuse us. Remember that this week, especially as Mars continues his business with Neptune and they meet again by declination on Wednesday. Allow yourself to be motivated and guided by a force greater than your conscious mind; act with love and compassion in the moment, without worrying about what comes next. It won’t matter then if your mind isn’t receiving the evidence it prefers. On an important level, you will trust the direction that you’re heading.

The main event for the week is Tuesday evening’s Virgo Full Moon, which is overlaying and activating the Saturn/Uranus opposition. The Full Moon is taking place at the same degrees where the opposition was exact on February 5. Because Saturn and Uranus haven’t moved far from that spot (two degrees back and two degrees forward, respectively), their current opposition is also part of this Full Moon. The Moon is standing with Saturn, while the Sun is with Uranus. The feminine is coming into contact with great lessons, restrictions, responsibilities or commitment; the masculine is being released from limitations, either in perspective or situations. These pairings may well generate some uncomfortable events, but any discomfort will be productive. We are once again experiencing and assimilating the personal meaning of the ongoing Saturn/Uranus opposition, which is disrupting our personal status quo and opening us to an unrestricted mode of living. If our emotions feel impeded or oppressed or unsupported by the surface events that occur under this Full Moon, the way out will involve our egos dropping their hold on a defining concept and adopting a new perspective. If outside events shake up our view of what our life is about, the way out will involve taking responsibility for and control of our own emotional security. One way or another, our feminine side is coming into balance with the masculine.

Not coincidentally, this result dovetails nicely with the process our communication skills are undergoing a few hours before the Full Moon. Our ability to receive and transmit information can bypass the conscious mind with Mercury, ruler of communication, in Pisces, the sign of the interconnectedness of all being. They move more into the collective unconscious early Tuesday afternoon, when Mercury makes an opportunity aspect to Pluto in Capricorn. Messages will be powerful and focused; more importantly, we have the chance to experience our minds and mouths as conduits rather than the source of information.

Lingering business from the beginning of February will come back up to be addressed again during this Full Moon. The luminaries are making an exact growth aspect to the Leo Full Moon lunar eclipse of February 9. That event motivated us to take charge of remodeling our personal support structures and to make choices for freedom and growth. The resolve was strong, but circumstances were not yet in place to carry our new ideas very far. We’ll feel the urge to get moving on them again now. (For more, read my Full Moon article on the site.)

The aftermath of the Full Moon is hopping. On Wednesday, the Moon moves into opposition with Uranus, while the Sun meets him by declination. Action occurs today: The other shoe drops, the pressure that’s been building overnight crests and we make an internal shift. Outside resistance won’t be a fear or concern. The atmosphere remains gentle, with the god of action meeting the representative of divine love (Mars conjoining Neptune by declination). Socializing promises to be friendly, expansive and helpful, too, as Venus, the goddess of love, makes an opportunity aspect to beneficent Jupiter. The internal shift we make could position us for a welcome money development from this influence as well. Thursday, the Sun completes his conjunction with Uranus and we make a significant break, internally, externally or both. We harmonize the pressures of the Full Moon quickly, over these two days, and the upshot is restructuring our ego’s job description. It doesn’t have to do all the work. The heart is stepping up and into to its share.

Balancing male and female continues on Friday, when Venus and Mars face each other down by declination. Neither will subordinate to the other; each is aware of (and respects) what the other brings to the situation. It’s a flirty, jaunty, sparking encounter; watch how it spills over into your interactions that day. The balancing continues when Mars leaves Aquarius for Pisces on Saturday. The archetypal male and female planets are modeling balance for us, with the god of war in the feminine sign of complete connectedness, while the goddess of love is in the masculine sign of absolute independence (Aries). The feminine is acting assertively and aggressively; the masculine is receptive, gentle and ethereal. Motivations, ambitions and actions move from the mental level to the spiritual waters of all existence, where boundaries dissolve. Lead from the heart and our actions will follow suit. Everything this week leads back to that message.
