6 Aries 08
Even though spring officially began when the Sun entered Aries on March 20, the season will feel like it’s truly beginning with the Aries New Moon. The first New Moon of this zodiacal year gets us off to an uncommonly fresh start. The Sun and Moon will arrive for their meeting with the slate wiped clean or at least significantly cleared off. We’re beginning the season of new growth with focus and a clear mind. We won’t be scattering seeds willy-nilly but consciously, selectively and anything but ambivalently.
The Sun and the Moon make two important contacts before their meeting. First, the Moon crosses over Mercury, the planet of communication, which is moving towards a conjunction with the Sun that becomes exact on Monday, March 30. We’re gaining in energy, drive, impulsiveness and willingness to take chances, mentally, emotionally and verbally. The Sun and the Moon are also moving into a square with Pluto, the transformer. This aspect operates as a rite of passage before the luminaries come together in the New Moon. A square demands action. When Pluto is in the square, that action involves refinement, purifying, cutting back and cutting away. More trappings are being stripped away from our egos and hearts, as if they are being rendered naked before their meeting. The same process is happening to Mercury, so the information that he hands off to the Moon (and later, to the Sun) will be intense, focused and profound.
These conjunctions to Mercury are critical contacts for manifestation. Be aware of how you are phrasing things in your mind and to others. Words and thoughts are always important, but awareness of them is advisable at the beginning of a cycle, particularly a New Moon in the company of the cosmic wordsmith. The more clearly and precisely you articulate your intentions, the more clearly and precisely they can come into being. Don’t be surprised if your New Moon list is shorter than usual. Pluto’s influence is cutting out the extraneous, the distracting and the fundamentally unimportant. It’s unlikely that your list will carry over the handful of wishes that you’ve been writing down month after month without progress (or, be honest, effort). Anything you write down and energize now will be something you passionately care about. If that amounts to only two or three items, think of how much more energy each item stands to receive from you.
This New Moon has a relationship with the other two we’ve had so far this year. It’s in an exact harmonious opportunity aspect with the Aquarius solar eclipse of January 26. Inner and outer circumstances invite us to step through doorways opened before us two months ago. The New Moon is also in exact aspect to last month’s Pisces New Moon, requiring us to stretch and move forward into our new ways of being.
The aftermath of the New Moon ties it to the ongoing process of bringing the feminine into equal partnership with the masculine. The first planet the Moon meets is Venus, who is in opportunity aspect with the North Node of the Moon. The Moon is still vibrating in with the Sun and our hearts are still in unity with our egos as we encounter an exciting relationship or financial development that dovetails with our new direction. Look for validation of your self-worth and core values, as well as a signpost that confirms you’re on the right path. Right after passing Venus, the Moon makes a growth aspect to Mars, which signals a new stage in the relationship between our emotions and our drive. The Sun ties the bow on this two-step process by making the same aspects on Friday, and running our rational side through the paces our emotions have just experienced. The masculine is following the lead of the feminine.
The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon speaks of harmonizing duality. We have been bringing the heart into balance with the mind in recent weeks. Bringing the feminine into balance with the masculine continues with this New Moon, because of the luminaries’ post-event contacts to Venus and Mars. We’re also straddling two ways of being just now. The old world is still in the process of being disassembled; the new is still in the readying stages. We are, in a sense, in two places at once, a condition to which the Sabian Symbol speaks directly.
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun and Moon at 7 Aries is
A MAN SUCCESSFULLY EXPRESSING HIMSELF IN TWO WORLDS AT ONCE.
Commentary: ‘A Man Successfully Expressing Himself in Two Worlds at Once’ shows someone having the ability to be versatile and adaptable. When operating in ‘Two Worlds’, one’s life may seem divided with divergent responsibilities, needs and urges. As this image implies that this person is ‘Successfully Expressing Himself’, it shows that this is a time when it is possible, or necessary, to cope with separate or diverse areas of life.
Oracle: You have the ability, or the challenge, to shift your focus from one thing to another when it is necessary. There is also the drive, determination and focus not to run out of energy. However, there is a need to be careful not to scatter your energies, as this may lead to wasting time and losing valuable opportunities for growth. Remember to be versatile and adaptable. There is often a need for a form of balance between the emotional, spiritual and material arenas. It’s through being clear and true to the difference between these two areas, these ‘Two Worlds’, that great things can be achieved. For instance, one can have a “straight” job during the day, and be doing something really unusual, during the rest of the time, or live between two homes, two cities, two relationships, etc. On another level, there could be a realization of operating on the physical, more everyday, level of your life whilst having messages coming through from more spiritual realms. You can be successful in anything you undertake now, as long as you are happy with the compromises that may be asked of both you and others and the splitting up of areas of your life. Are you enjoying the best of both ‘Worlds?’
Keywords: Integrating the spiritual with the material. Balancing things. Doing juggling acts. Moving through people’s lives and social stratas. Translations of words and thoughts from one area of life to another. Having separate family situations. Living a dual life. Being adaptable. Moonlighting. Alternate realities. Shifting focus when necessary.
The Caution: Fooling yourself that you can be all things to different people, but eventually failing in one or both. Exhaustion through trying to achieve too much. Deception, if allegiances are not clear. Infidelity and fickleness. Scattering of interests with little being achieved. Bigamy. Two-faced. Lies and masquerades.
