13 Aquarius 43
We have reached the final eclipse of this summer’s season. The first two, the July 7 lunar eclipse in Capricorn and the July 21 solar eclipse in Cancer, have ushered in a cycle of change in our concepts of home, family, security, nurturing and career, which will play out through July 2010. August’s Full Moon, a lunar eclipse in Aquarius, is the clean-up player in the 18-month eclipse cycle that is coming to a close.
August’s eclipse also brings us to the end of the sequence of airlocks through which we have been traveling since the solstice, when the Cancer New Moon opposed Pluto and dispatched us into a summer of evolution. These airlocks have moved us from our lives and attitudes as they existed before the solstice to the lives and attitudes we will proceed with after this lunar eclipse. Each of this summer’s eclipses has moved us a little further along an evolutionary path, accustoming us at each juncture to a slightly different atmospheric pressure. Each stage has brought incremental but manageable change that would have been too overwhelming for us to navigate in one leap. Think back to who you were as recently as mid-June. Think especially about how much of your inner essence had a voice prior to the solstice, and how much more of it is insisting on expression now. That issue has been affected by the airlocks we have been through since the solstice. Think of the changes you have experienced in the past six weeks in the state of your familial bonds, your attitude about your physical home and your career, your internal and external security, and your inclination to nurture yourself. Each airlock, each evolutionary stage has moved you closer and closer to putting nurturing yourself at the top of your priority of needs. And part of nurturing yourself is letting your heart sing and play – which brings us right into the terrain of the Leo/Aquarius eclipse cycle that is wrapping up now.
The Leo/Aquarius axis deals with the self and individuality, boiling down to self-actualization. The Leo end runs from a childlike (and sometimes childish) need for attention, drama, fun and excitement to a regal authority, beneficence and entitlement. The Aquarius end explores the uniqueness of the individual, as well as his place within the greater community. These characteristics have been themes in issues and projects that have developed since the Aquarius New Moon solar eclipse on February 6, 2008, which occurred four degrees away from today’s event. That eclipse called for new and unconventional approaches to navigating life and this planet and shot all of us into a crash course in manifestation, which has continued to play out this year in the triple conjunction in Aquarius (Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron), traveling in a growth aspect to the ruler of Aquarius, Uranus.
The upshot of that process becomes visible now. A lunar eclipse adds elements of revelation to the harvest and culmination that is part of any Full Moon. Expect to see a fuller picture now of the stage on which you have been performing over the past 18 months, including a clearer view of what’s been going on in the wings and how well you have been appreciated (or not). Some of what is revealed involves your own personal experience and satisfaction.
Chart your life since February of last year. At least one trajectory should jump out at you, whether it’s a specific project that started then or a theme that took seed then. With this project or theme in mind, compare where you are now with where you were 18 months ago. How enjoyable is your current location? Does it allow and encourage you to shine? Is it creatively empowering or do you feel hindered, stifled or, perish forfend, ignored? (Being ignored does not go over well with Leo.) How true is this location to you? How well does it broadcast or express your unique voice? How well does the greater community of this location suit you? Do you want to stay? Continue on? Pack up your toys and play somewhere else (a playroom of your own making, say)?
The answer to each question goes back to one simple concept: what makes you feel good about yourself? The question shouldn’t precipitate an inner struggle. We are internally much less at odds under this Full Moon than usual, because the Sun and the Moon make the equivalent of a conjunction by declination eight hours before. This meeting gives them a unity that is still resounding when they go into their standoff by zodiacal degree. Also, the first aspect that the Moon makes after leaving the Sun is a meeting by declinations with buoyant, super-sizing Jupiter. The expression of our unique voice and fulfillment of our unique emotional needs rule this eclipse. Our heart and mind are likely to take those two points as givens. Our inner child wants to be happy. We aren’t arguing with that concept any longer. Now that we have taken responsibility for being our own parent, we are going to give our inner child what he or she needs, to thrive. Any squabbling is likely to be with situations and conditions to the contrary that we have allowed to develop or continue.
If your heart is calling for change, this eclipse will draw your attention to it. Resistance is futile, what with the Sun and the Moon making minor but uncomfortable aspects to the two cosmic change agents, Uranus and Pluto. Shifts in perspective and attitude are the first step; dealing with external arrangements follows organically.
The Sabian Symbols for the Moon and the Sun address the lightning speed at which self-actualization can occur, when you commit to your individuality and its expression. Wherever you choose to remain after this eclipse, whatever direction you choose to pursue, breathtaking progress is possible.
The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 14 ° Aquarius is
A TRAIN ENTERING A TUNNEL.
Commentary: ‘A Train Entering a Tunnel’ shows the ability, in these modern times, to take the shortest and most direct route to a destination or an outcome. Years ago, we would have had to go the long way around a mountain, but now we can use many pathways, methods and “shortcuts” to get where we want to go quickly and expediently. Often, though, going into a ‘Train Tunnel’ can be a weird experience; the sunlight suddenly disappears, and it can feel as though we are hurtling through the earth to some unknown destination. This can be exciting, but also often rather disconcerting as the ‘Train’ speeds towards its destination or goal.
Oracle: You may feel the need to cut through any obstacles you encounter and to go straight ahead, regardless of any unseen hazards on your way. It may be necessary to examine whether you are operating at cross-purposes with someone. There may be a need to check the ‘Trains’ signals, to make sure that there’s not a collision with people, or complications, coming the other way. This can be particularly true if this feels like a “one-track” journey. Perhaps the situation feels like it’s never end going to end, like you’re stuck in a ‘Tunnel’, but it’s certain that it will. You are likely to have a great deal of drive and it’s probable that others are with you, or people may be depending on you, so plough on through. However, this can be a lonely journey that you’re on. It may feel like you’re going through a dark ‘Tunnel’ all by yourself, and there can be a sense of isolation. Whatever the situation, there’s a need to cut to the heart of the problem, without stopping to consider every single detail. If you feel that you’re heading down the “right track”, quickly adjusting, changing or making up your mind about some issue or problem can lead to swift conclusions and solutions. Getting stuck in the various details of the situation will probably just add to a much longer outcome than is needed. You, or someone close to you, may need to just go for it. Look to ensure that you’re not missing out on the joy in the journey though, perhaps you’d really rather go the long way around rather than through the ‘Tunnel’?
Keywords: Deep penetration. Cutting through extraneous or stifling detail. Persistence. Shortcuts to a desired end. Heart bypasses-physical, emotional, spiritual, etc. Cutting to the chase. Seeing and going for the objective regardless of side issues. Working at getting something finished or done. Near-death experiences. The need for track maintenance. Dropping all distracting considerations. Fallopian tubes. Hurried sex.
The Caution: Being overcautious. Taking the long way around OR taking shortcuts that inhibit deep penetration of a matter. Cutting through the crap. Tunnel vision. Cutting people off. Not listening to others. Having a one-track mind that doesn’t allow for detours or deviations. Severe changes in pressure. Railroading and bulldozing.
The only way round is through. Robert Frost
No steam or gas ever drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined. Harry Emerson Fosdick
Due to the current economic climate, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice. Anon
If we see light at the end of the tunnel it is the light of an oncoming train. Robert Lowell
The most common of all antagonisms arises from a man’s taking a seat beside you on the train, a seat to which he is completely entitled. Robert Benchley
If you board the wrong train, it is no use running along the corridor in the other direction. Dietrich Bonhoeffer
RAILROAD, n. The chief of many mechanical devices enabling us to get away from where we are to where we are no better off. Ambrose Bierce
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 14° Leo, which is what this Full Moon is reflecting, is:
CHERUB-LIKE, A HUMAN SOUL WHISPERS INTO EVERY RECEPTIVE EAR, SEEKING TO MANIFEST.
Commentary: ‘Cherub-Like, A Human Soul Whispers Into Every Receptive Ear, Seeking to Manifest’ is a Symbol of the desire to be heard and taken seriously. This ‘Human Soul’ is trying to find a ‘Receptive Ear’, someone who will listen to or agree with what’s being said, perhaps to spur others to take some kind of action. Something that has been waiting to be ‘Manifested’, said, heard or realized could come out quite suddenly.
Oracle: There is likely to be a deep realization that will transform your life on some level. The time may not be quite right to make the changes, but it is coming soon. Your creative or spiritual talents are attempting to come through into conscious expression. Listening to your inner voice, and heeding messages from others, can lead you to the next level of your life. On the spiritual level, this Symbol shows the movement of the ‘Soul’ to new possibilities and opportunities. On the more everyday level, it can imply that in order to find those who wish to join our process or task, ideas need to be communicated in a quiet and suggestive manner, rather than being loud and demanding. Often when there’s a new idea in the air, many people seemingly come up with it at the same time. This can be rather astounding; it’s like the time for this new thing to ‘Manifest’ has come and those that are ‘Receptive’ to the message will hear and respond to it. However, if the messages coming through are not clear, intelligent, or useful, you may become involved in wild-goose chases and extremes of behavior. Parts of the mind can come tearing out – wishing to ‘Manifest’ and make themselves heard or known. Discriminate between what’s important and what’s not. Listen to messages as something is seeking expression and it needs a vehicle to be able to ‘Manifest’ it. Perhaps you are the “vehicle”?
Keywords: New realizations. New impulses. Seeking to have one’s voice heard. Messages from the other side. Reincarnation. Channeling information. Spirit descending, wishing to make itself known. Whispering. Passing on news and messages. Seeking embodiment. Transpersonal urges. Cherubs and spirits. Ears and hearing. The urge to accomplish something. Compassion. Manifesting intention.
The Caution: Confusing voices. Signs of instability or madness. Feeling that if one isn’t heard, they will miss out. A need to be noticed and acknowledged. Not feeling like one can speak up loud enough to make a difference. Shouting and making a spectacle. Trying to convince others of something. Misleading statements.
