Weekly Weather Report

Kathy is giving a teletalk on the restructuring we’re undergoing with the Saturn/Pluto square, at 9 PM EDT Thursday, November 12, $30. Visit EmpowermentUnlimited.net for info and registration.

We’re in an epidemic of evolution, and no one is immune. The Saturn/Pluto that has been building for weeks becomes exact on Sunday. None of the major developments it is bringing to a head is out of the blue. Everything has either already been in the works or has been churning behind the scenes or below the surface. It’s the energetic equivalent of seismic pressure building deep in the earth until the plates shift. The movement spits out mountains, flattens valleys and carves chasms and gorges. The reshaping is permanent; the terrain will never look the same.

And so it is with each of us. We have been individually transformed over the course of this year, synthesizing heart and mind and masculine and feminine, taking responsibility for our own care and nurturing, streamlining our personal bottom line and cutting loose from existing family relationships and dynamics. Now that Saturn has entered Libra, all of our changes are coming with us onto the playing field of relationships. Since we have changed, all our social contracts are up for reconsideration. It’s inescapable. This is happening across the board, not just in heart-based and business dealings, but in all dynamics. Two distinct aspects of our lives are the flashpoints for this metamorphosis, with the specifics depending on what houses Saturn and Pluto are occupying in your chart. Ground rules, structures and alliances have to change. Imbalances must be addressed and rectified. The fact that you’ve always done something some way is no longer reason enough to keep doing it. To remain in your life, it must fit and support the new you. The impact this process is having on relationships is fundamental and widespread. Some relationships are being put to sleep. Others are being taken apart and reassembled into a more comfortable, workable configuration. No important relationship is being left untouched.

You’ve been feeling this and increasingly seeing this, and you’ve already been pushing for rectification and renovation, even if you haven’t thought of it in those terms. The process consumes the entire week and pushes each of us toward a culmination by Sunday. We’re not putting certain situations to rest forever (Saturn and Uranus have more in store for us in their two oppositions next year, for starters), but we are forging an important round of changes now. Seismic blasts come on Monday. Pluto offers a hand to Venus and our dreams test drive a scenario that would deliver something that we deeply desire; Mercury and Pluto meet by declination and our minds zoom in on personal truths, as well as bold, perhaps harsh ways to convey it. Wednesday the Moon meets Saturn and butts against Pluto. We settle into reality (or what passes for it) and commit to our emotional needs and fight to fulfill our desires, perhaps in reaction to burdens, obstacles or deprivations from outside forces. Friday the Sun meets Pluto by declination and the sword of truth that Mercury got on Monday translates into fierce and fearless backbone. By Sunday, when Saturn’s square to Pluto perfects, we are actively participating in an attitudinal and situational restructuring that will affect our lives for years.

One widespread area where this has been occurring is holiday plans — maybe not monumental in themselves, but profound in what they reveal about tribal allegiances. How was your Halloween a change of pace? What has already changed from prior years about Thanksgiving and the December holiday celebrations? I’m hearing from person after person that previous traditions are already out the window for this year’s plans. Something different is already being contemplated for the location, the people in charge, the family members attending or even the nature of the gathering. None of this is insignificant. Everything is being pulled into mindfulness. Family traditions are not to be lockstep, rote activities but must recapture meaning to continue. We are to choose events and gatherings because they engage our hearts, not blindly (and often resentfully) come together out of expectations and habit. Watch for this in your own circle and notice the change in the quality of your holiday experiences this year.

After the Saturn/Pluto square peaks, Mercury moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius, where he will stay into the first week of December. Mercury is in his detriment in Sagittarius, because the sign is opposite Gemini, one of his home bases. Despite the traditional label, Sagittarius does have some traits that are to the the winged messenger’s liking: room for light and nimble maneuvering, a good-time atmosphere, easy laughter and a bent for jokes, pranks and generally not taking life (or one’s self) too seriously. Problems arise if he grows too rigid in his mindset, which can lead to jingoism, narrow-mindedness and intolerance. For this current stay in Sagittarius, Mercury has heavy-hitting help to avoid those pitfalls, because the sign’s ruler, Jupiter, is in the company of enlightened Neptune. Higher love and compassion can rule our communications right now, especially if we consciously ask for that.

Monday: Think of your relationships in terms of alliances of power. Heads of kingdoms did, long ago, and businesses do today. Pay attention to what (and particularly who) is on your mind as the day starts. Your subconscious has identified a strategic partnership that could enhance both of your positions and offer access to something you value and desire. Tonight, let your mind go as deeply as it wants. You’re zeroing in on your own truth.

Tuesday: Few people in history have had as great an ego and as great a professional stretch as German poet, philosopher, self-styled scientist and playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. He’s an appropriate poster child for today’s Sun/Jupiter square, which beckons us to craft and live a bigger and grander existence. The day’s other square, between Mercury and Chiron, is forcing a growth spurt in mastering the physical and overcoming longstanding conditions that have held us back. As a popular paraphrase of couplets from Goethe’s Faust counsels: “Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.”

Wednesday: Mercury is busy today, and how. Communications are sudden, enlightening, volatile and impassioned. By evening you might be questioning what’s real and what isn’t. Pay most attention to what the early morning hours reveal. Speak out mid-day; keep stumm and let your mind sit with information and ideas as darkness falls. A force greater than your conscious mind has a message or two. Silence will help them get through.

Thursday: We awaken into a void of course Moon that lasts for the morning (till 12:33 PM EST). Use the void to sit with (that concept again!) fragments of last night’s dreams, which explored personal autonomy and the bigger-picture ramifications in life path choices. When the Moon clears the void and enters Libra, watch for a personal check-in on what your heart must have in all the restructuring, renegotiation and remodeling being precipitated by the Saturn/Pluto square. You’ll get great clarity on what’s on your side of the table and what you want in return. Whether that will come across the table to you remains to play out. Setting up your end is all that’s important for the moment.

Friday: Work on your own agenda. The morning opens a door to an item on it that your heart’s really behind. The heart has become our navigation system, so its impulses are the ones to follow. The mind can scurry along behind and figure out how to make the heart’s wishes happen. The other guidepost for the day is stepping into and exercising personal power. This isn’t the lower behavior that is so often mistaken for power (bullying, slamming a fist on the table and the like), but the true power that comes from standing firmly in the truth and knowledge of who you are, unapologetically and unwaveringly. This is the power that will keep your footing firm no matter what seismic shifts are erupting in the Saturn/Pluto square. You and your connection to your truth/your higher power/ the divine will are the constants in your life.

Saturday: You might as well plan to take it easy, because nothing you push at today is going to get anywhere. Not that you’re likely to want to do much more than sit in smiling reverie. The Moon is void of course for all the daylight hours EST (6:11 AM to 5:25 PM) after trining gentle, dreamy Neptune. He will have given you plenty to play with during the void. The overnight hours fill you with visions of a relationship that is more exciting and fulfilling than what you have been experiencing in the waking world. Before the sun rises, true love is flooding your heart. And if your dreams identify a candidate to receive it from you, pay attention to that person. If you’re already in a close relationship with that person, a new approach and perspective are yours by evening. If you’re not, consider the possibility that your heart is yearning for a new direction. And if your closest relationship has been collapsing under the Saturn/Pluto square, this person’s appearance in your dream is a message of hope. The point of the collapse is not to leave you alone and adrift. This person may be a harbinger of something better on the way, or s/he could be the real thing, but regardless: Love awaits on the other side of the rubble.

Sunday: Tie your grounding cord down tight and keeping looking to the heavens, and you will navigate this day successfully. The morning launches with the Saturn/Pluto square completing. By late afternoon the Sun squares Neptune; late at night, the Sun faces Mars off by declination. The day will flow from tension to a weird formlessness to ignitions switching on just when the clock is saying a sane person should be winding down and heading to bed. As the day progresses, don’t clutch at or fight any changes you want or encounter in the playing field. Check in with your guidance, proceed from love and compassion, rather than fear, and watch your words. Communication will change tone as Mercury moves into Sagittarius mid-evening. If you haven’t spoken openly before bed time, resist the urge to start talking then, or be prepared for a late-nighter. Better to table any remaining discussions and negotiations for tomorrow’s New Moon in Scorpio.
