The celestial influences continue to stretch us from the earth to the heavens. The major influences of the week are weighted on both ends of the spectrum, accustoming us to functioning with input from both. The Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune/Uranus traveling party remains tight, with Chiron and Neptune now retrograde and beginning the slow back-and-forth stretching that we’re undergoing like taffy for the rest of the year. It’s opening us to awareness of forces greater than the individual, which move into and out from us in waves of concentric circles, from friends to neighborhood to town to state to country to continent to planet to spirit and back. We don’t have the luxury of getting lost in reverie, though, as Mercury and Mars in Taurus anchor us on terra firma and direct our minds and energy to earth-bound endeavors. Mercury is direct now, allowing us to begin to move ahead on the practical information he dug up while retracing his steps during the retrograde. Mars is down-shifting our actions from the gung-ho drive of Aries to the slower, deliberate mode of Taurus. By the weekend, Venus will be in her Taurus home, too, a shift that brings relationships and finances into the mix of life areas that are grounding us.
We get a soft launch to the week, with a void of course Moon first thing Monday morning (from 4:33 AM to 11:17 AM EDT). This gives a soft, gentle touch to activities and our experience of time. Even if your schedule is jam-packed, you’re likely not to feel urgency and anxiety. Banish any that do attempt to intrude on you. Nothing rarely comes of projects and matters that are started under a void of course Moon; in fact, it can be baffling hard to make progress on projects that are already underway. Brainstorm; relax; float on the energy. And write down any dream fragments that stayed with you from Sunday night. Early morning Moon/Uranus contacts shot revelations and insights like lightning bolts into our dreams. The fragments that stay with you may not make sense at first, but they provide keys. Hang onto them so they’ll be handy when the locks they fit present themselves.
One may do just that Tuesday when Venus aspects Uranus and the Aquarius cluster. A development that day demonstrates how your values and self-worth are evolving and provides the chance to put them in action. Relationship dynamics or a financial exchange are likely arenas for this, but that could be anything that involves or reflects what you value in general or about yourself. And on the topic of self-worth: have you noticed lately that you are giving more respect to your own unique bundle of talents, skills, abilities and interests? Especially the ones that you’ve honed simply because they captivated, engaged and inspired you, not because they were practical or might earn money? The funny thing is, all those talents, skills, activities and interests do end up helping support you, sometimes indirectly, but sometimes quite tangibly. The more you accept and give expression to all the parts of yourself, the greater regard you radiate for yourself and the greater the exchange others offer you. Watch what types of opportunities open up Tuesday. Venus’ links facilitate artistic, creative, social and spiritual endeavors. Don’t hold back on them; they could advance you.
Regardless of how the surface events play out, in the bigger, long-term picture Venus’s contacts Tuesday are charging up our relationships, financial assets and attitudes, personal resources and values with the cluster’s boundary-blurring, therapeutic, expansive and liberating energy. A helpful meditative icon is the Ten of Pentacles as depicted in the Rider-Waite Tarot. That image arranges the pentacles into the Tree of Life, representing spiritual energy taking physical form on earth. Everything is being imbued with spirit, even the coins in our pockets and credit cards in our wallets. Everything. Keep that concept with you. It will gradually but inevitably reshape how you handle money and objects, how you treat other people and how you treat yourself.
The middle of the week brings another quiet, gentle stretch as the Moon is void of course again all Wednesday afternoon. Her last contact before the void is to Venus, which suits this afternoon to socializing and incubating creative ideas. Move time-sensitive tasks off the schedule, and don’t place emotional attachment on the staying power of any tasks that circumstances force you to pursue.
Put paper and pen by your bedside Wednesday night. Dreams are intense, profound and possibly cathartic between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with Mars and the Moon both contacting Pluto. Their workings are powerful enough to warrant programming your dreams more specifically than asking for insight into a situation. Ask to be shown how to move forward, how to resolve a situation or how to align your conscious will with divine will. Come morning, there may not be many dream specifics to remember; the activity will have taken place on that deep a level. Write down what is going through your mind as you awaken, and take note of how you feel emotionally.
Friday the Sun squares Saturn and sets up the dynamic of Sunday’s Full Moon in Sagittarius, when both the Sun and Moon will be in this aspect to Saturn. The Sun’s stay so far in airy Gemini has been weighted by the sign’s ruler Mercury being earth-bound in Taurus. Communication and mental activity have been in a steady, unrushed, thorough and practical mode. Friday our egos come to ground, too, with details that require attention. The Sun/Saturn square demands responsibility and accountability. We may have to answer for actions or inaction, for something we said or a communication we left unanswered. We may be forced to take on obligations (instead of “forced,” think “pressured” instead; we always have a choice, even if it’s not an easy one). We are being urged to take responsibility for ourselves, our lives and our metaphoric gardens. As we do this, it is important to safeguard personal boundaries. Intactness is critical as boundaries dissolve and we grow consciously attuned to the interconnectedness of all life. Maintaining individuality in the midst of the collective requires knowing where you (and your business) stops and someone else starts. Friday, we’re shown a matter that’s ours to handle. Whether to deal with it or not is our choice, but it’s not going away if the choice is ignore it. It’ll be back on Sunday, with an emotional charge to boot, when the Moon squares Saturn late morning EDT.
Our comfort with earthly matters increases when Venus moves into her home base of Taurus on Saturday and starts to catch up with her traveling companion Mars. She’ll be home for four weeks and meet Mars just before the midpoint on June 21. The goddess of relationships and money loves life in the sensual rooms of Taurus, where she is free to savour tastes and textures and aromas and generally enjoy being in a body. This time around, though, her sensibilities are different. They are still reverberating from her brushes with Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune and Uranus on Tuesday. She has touched generosity of spirit, the higher octave of love, the font of healing and the cosmic awakener. Each contact has expanded her heart and altered the way she perceives everything in her domain. Watch how they have affected your own perceptions as well.
The week ends with the Sagittarius Full Moon midafternoon Sunday, just a few hours after the Moon squares Saturn. The Sun, the Moon and Saturn are forming a t-square, a tense and ping-ponging aspect pattern that requires going through Saturn in Virgo to find resolution. That message again — put our lives, schedules, environments and bodies in order. The skies have only been counseling this since the end of summer 2007, when Saturn entered Virgo. We’ve got only a few months more to get with the program. Harmonizing our minds and hearts requires it, with this Full Moon. Our minds and hearts are to work together in earthly existence, and their task of the moment is tending to our Saturn in Virgo work. A longer discussion appears in my Full Moon Report on the site.
Mundane: Thank you to the many readers who have e-mailed about how the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune/Uranus traveling party has been affecting them. (I feel like Sally Fields at the Academy Awards!) The messages so far range from unprecedented fogginess to healing of a childhood wound of major magnitude. If you have found your mental processes working differently this year, or if you know that the traveling party is making tight aspects to your chart, I would love to learn about your experiences. I am particularly interested in what has been happening with mid-February Aquarians (the Aquarius cluster is on top of your Sun) and anyone born between October 1955 and July 1956 (the Aquarius cluster is opposing your Jupiter/Pluto conjunction). Please feel free to email me about your own experiences. All identities will be kept confidential.

The skies continue to weave our spiritual and worldly existence into on cohesive whole. Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune and Uranus are traveling together for the rest of the year and are moving in and out of exact aspect to each other. Their machinations last week brought novel and horizon-expanding insights into situations of longstanding crippling, as expansive, beneficent Jupiter crossed Chiron, the wounded healer, and made an exact growth aspect to innovator Uranus. (The stars are indeed aligned for health care reform, as President Obama said.)
Mars, the planet the rules our internal drive, starts the week moving into opportunity aspect to the triple conjunction. He completes this aspect on Tuesday, just before Jupiter and Neptune make their first exact meeting of this year. (Two more follow, in July and during the winter holidays.) Your internal guidance system is evolving. Just as the Venus/Mars connection has loosened the monopoly of the mind and moved us into heart-based decision making, this traveling party is linking spiritual guidance into the mix. The Mars/Uranus link signals a change in ambitions. Liberate yourself from past ones that no longer fit you and embrace broader ones that are in alignment with something higher than your ego. Let your soul guide you. For readers of this site, connection to spirit is the key. It’s happening even in people who don’t believe or think in terms of spirit, though. Look at the upsurge in visibility and community-building among atheists, who are banding together in pursuit of reason, their characterization of the force underlying existence. Labels don’t matter. What’s important is acknowledging and reaching for guidance from something greater than yourself (spirit, reason, love, higher self, God) and finding common ground with other inhabitants of this planet in the process.
As Jupiter conjoins Neptune and semisextiles Uranus, encouragement mounts to re-envision your life. It’s not just about hanging on to a paycheck or amassing toys and trinkets. All manner of celestial influences have been nudging you to get to know yourself and identify your core values and priorities. Move in their direction now. They are not simply abstract concepts; they are coming into being. This week gives us a huge assist in bridge-building. Our heads are in the stars, while our feet are firmly on the ground, with Mercury in Taurus and Mars moving in on Sunday. There is no longer a separation between worldly life and spiritual life. Church isn’t something we tend to once a week in a dedicated building; spirit is with us, in us and working through us constantly. We are, as the adage goes, spiritual beings having a physical experience.
The separate compartments that have defined our existence are all crumbling, merging and commingling. The mutual receptions in the sky echo this. A mutual reception occurs when planets are in each other’s signs, and it sets up a reverberation between the affected planets that causes their influences to blend. Uranus and Neptune have been in mutual reception for six years, with Uranus in the sign that Neptune rules and Neptune in the sign that Uranus rules. Starting Sunday, when Mars moves into Taurus, Venus and Mars are in mutual reception, too, another indicator of blending. They’ll complete that merging when they meet in her boudoir mid June. The bottom line is: there’s no longer any point in thinking of your life in neat, tidy, walled-off compartments. They do not exist any more. Heart and mind are working as one; body and soul have united. As above, so below; as within, so without.
Neptune goes retrograde on Thursday; Jupiter, Chiron and Uranus will follow between now and July. The retrogrades will prolong and expand the merging of body and spirit. It’s like taffy being pulled first in one direction, then another. The planets will all contact each other exactly two more times in the process. Take note of what stretches you this week. The themes of this time will repeat in July and December.
Mundane: If you are a mid-February Aquarian or were born between October 1955 and July 1956, The traveling party of Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune and Uranus is having a direct and personal impact on you. I would like to hear about any changes you have been experiencing in how your brain works. Some of the things I have been hearing are: not thinking as quickly, drawing a blank on a coworker’s name or the sequence of streets you’ve driven down for years, and not remembering something you said a few minutes earlier. Please feel free to email me about your own experiences. All identities will be kept confidential.

Mercury is the planet to watch now. Mercury is still backtracking through the Venus-ruled territory of Taurus. He’s still in control of taskmaster Saturn, who has stationed direct in the middle of Virgo but isn’t quite ready to begin moving forward. The cosmic messenger rules Sunday’s New Moon, too, and has agenda items before then with just about every other major player in the sky. Wear comfortable shoes and keep those cell phones and wireless headsets charged. Everyone will have something to say this week, and we’ll all be covering lots of territory.
Much of that territory will be familiar. Mercury’s retrograde is sending us back over matters that we’ve dealt with since April 22. We’ve had almost a month since then living with the new alignment of heart and will that occurred at that same date, when Venus and Mars met at the last degree of Pisces. Letting our hearts call the shots is growing more and more into our natural way of proceeding. Now that we are more comfortable with this way of being, we get to revisit what we were doing while this skill was being instilled.
With this second look, practicalities are popping out that weren’t obvious or sufficiently noticed the first time. Costs are coming out of the woodwork. Differences in expectations or assumptions are surfacing. People are discovering gaping holes in background information that could affect how much they want to invest in financial deals or relationships. Don’t balk, and don’t rush. This process benefits everyone. Saturn is idling the car in the driveway while Mercury goes back for a last look around. Take the time between now and the end of the month (when Mercury goes direct and Saturn gets going) to investigate and get a clearer, more earthbound picture of what you are putting together. If you learn that something on your action plan has a requirement (and price tag) that you hadn’t factored in, don’t complain about them or blame the person who brought them to your attention. Research them, learn about them, and rethink whether you want to go through with action item. Is your heart in it or not? The answer to that question will make other details fall into place. Every revelation is an invitation to prepare more consciously for the future. Tidbits that are turning up now reveal a lot about true value. Pay attention to them. Use Mercury’s return to Taurus to ruminate. No gulping, please.
If you begin doubting this week what it is that you really want, return to your first thoughts of this Monday morning. They embody your concrete goals and your bottom line, courtesy of the Sun’s conjunction with Mercury near the end of Taurus just after 6 AM EDT.
Expect to do some clearing of the path toward those goals in the first half of the week. The first bit may be more reactive than active. The air has been thick lately with insights into (and liberation from) the internal wiring that has been holding you back. They heighten into the sense of entering a new phase at last, when the ongoing growth aspect between Jupiter and Uranus becomes exact Tuesday mid-morning EDT. A light may go on; a lock that has held you in place may clank open; an unseen hand may shove you through a door. By Saturday, Jupiter exactly conjoins Neptune, font of compassion and spiritual wisdom, and Chiron, whose wound becomes his vehicle for healing. Tune your internal guidance system to the heavens and leave any definition of yourself as damaged behind. Do this even – especially – if your awareness mushrooms of your lifelong wounds. So what if you believe you can’t rewrite the past? You don’t have to keep living in it, and you can rewrite the role it plays in your current life. Which is taking place now. Not when you were four; not when you were in sixth grade; now.
Mercury pushes Neptune into delivering new definitions of yourself and more shortly before dawn EDT Wednesday morning. Spread them, share them and let them grow and grow as evening builds into night and Mercury squares Jupiter right before midnight EDT. Inspiration, brainstorming, writing and downloads from spirit run high all day, they’ll be more focused and intense late in the evening, when Mercury faces Pluto down by declination and channels conversations (in your head and with the outside world) into a narrow, deep groove. These aspects are ripe for encountering lies, deceptions and confusion; be on the lookout for evidence of ones that slipped by you when Mercury crossed this territory a few weeks ago. And return to your thoughts of early morning Monday. Who can you tell about your goals? What mental steps can you take toward them? How can you involve your circle of friends and your community in your goals? What do you have to change? These questions play out in your dreams Wednesday and Thursday mornings, so think about them when you wake and take notes. Thursday’s especially hold a key, because Mercury is making an opportunity aspect to Uranus at quarter to three EDT. A “Eureka!” moment is on the schedule, whether it makes you bolt upright or not. You have a couple of days to wrap your brain around it. Around dawn Sunday morning EDT, Mercury and Mars will inspire assertive, self-promoting communications and back your talk up with action.
While Mercury is holding these varied conferences, the Sun moves into the messenger’s Gemini home on Wednesday. Mercury may have gone down to earth for the time being, but we gain access to the flexibility and playfulness of Gemini as well. Let your mind and feet venture from their usual turf. Gather information like magpies; what looks like trivia now could be very useful in a few months. The week ends with a new phase in thinking and communications, when this month’s New Moon takes place amid the gentle breezes of Gemini Sunday morning. Our mental processes are in for adjustment. They, too, are adapting to the guiding role that our hearts are now playing. The ground rules of life have changed. They are no longer the ones that molded (and limited) us while we were growing up, and they aren’t even the ones we were living under last year. Our hearts are writing new ground rules. Our will has already fallen happily in with them. Now our thoughts and words are getting with the program. For more on the New Moon, read my report on the site.

After four and one-half months of retrograde, Saturn has stationed and will go direct on Saturday. All week we’ll have the sensation of being suspended in time, of being on the brink of stepping out and waiting for the cue. Saturn’s time in Virgo has been one protracted lesson in setting boundaries, tending to our own garden and infrastructure and taking care of ourselves. We have gone deep into this lesson all this year, which has invited us to sweep out the corners, restructure our habits, schedules and lives and treat our own basic needs with seriousness and respect. We have been challenged to take responsibility for ourselves and let other people handle their own business.
If there are organizational or fix-it projects you’ve been meaning to get to but haven’t, this is the time to tackle them. If some are in progress, get serious about them. What have you been working on since the beginning of the year? How have you been restructuring or reorganizing your time, routine, nutrition and exercise regimen and every other foundational aspect of your life? You have been reworking something, even if unconsciously. By this point in the process it’s like the moment in cleaning off your desk when you have cleared away all the paper clips, rubber bands and wadded-up receipts, you have all the papers sorted into piles and you’re ready to put them in the proper folders and wipe down the top of the desk. Go back to your metaphor piles of paper and file them. The time is ripe for bringing the clean-up to a close and addressing lingering details. Starting Saturday, the air will feel different, lighter, more flexible at last, but palpable progress will not happen for a couple of weeks, until Saturn changes degree on May 26 and Saturn’s current ruler Mercury goes direct a few days later. Tend your garden now. It is your job.
All manner of healing issues are being whipped up with super-sizing Jupiter now only a degree away from the conjunction of Chiron, the wounded healer, and mystic Neptune. We have been feeling their combined influence for the past few months and will continue to do so all year. We are coming to a heightened moment in their journey, which is building this week and the next. Jupiter will meet up with each of Neptune and Chiron exactly at the end of the month, for the first of three times this year. (The others are in July and December.) The triple conjunction is also moving into a growth aspect to Uranus, the cosmic liberator and awakener. Jupiter is now in this aspect, a semi-sextile, by degree and will exactly contact Uranus next Tuesday, May 19. This planetary pattern is triggering the question of what is real and what is illusion and may be making us more acutely aware of the ways in which we are or have been damaged (or have been perceived as damaged). It is unshackling us from limiting perspectives and associations and prodding each of us to move into a more expansive and liberated mode of existence.
This is an elaboration of one of the themes of Uranus in Pisces, which has been jolting each of us, since spring of 2003, into being honest with ourselves about who we really are, dropping masks, pretensions and outmoded coping mechanisms, and bringing our true self to the surface. With this triple conjunction of spiritual healing and transcendence linking to this theme, we’re in a growth spurt of self-actualization. For many of us, this involves showing more of the person that we have always been, but I am seeing examples lately of two other ways that this is playing out. See of these don’t have application to your own world. One is that people are starting to express parts of themselves that have never been given voice before. (The most dramatic example of this I’ve encountered is a confirmed ladies’ man, who surprised many by marrying in the last year, now becoming a father late in life.) This is in keeping with the ongoing Saturn/Uranus opposition and all the recent squares to Pluto in Capricorn, which has been breaking us out of old ways of being and instilling a heightened awareness of what is most important to us. Some people are daring to take actions they would have never before, while others are giving themselves permission with the reasoning, “If not now, when?”
The other wrinkle in the playing out is tremendous flux and turmoil in some organizations as the group consciousness grapples with what the entity wants to be. In a number of instances I have been observing key members try and try to steer a floundering organization into a direction they consider reasonable and right. After pushing against the tide – or engaging in the drama – they are hitting a limit, simply unhooking their attachment to the organization and letting the flux work itself out. This can take the form of walking out, taking a leave of absence or continuing to participate on a reduced, personally satisfying scale. If you’re embroiled in organizational politics, consider these approaches as options for liberating the energy you are tying up. Is the group in alignment with who you are now? What action is in alignment with you? This issue will heat up over the next two weeks, as the triple conjunction tightens, and resurface in July and December.
A personal meaning of the triple conjunction will come to light as the Sun squares Jupiter on Saturday and Neptune and Chiron on Sunday. Squares demand action; take note of what you feel compelled to do over the weekend. Some people will be coming up against delusions and fantasy, and some will react by blaming what happened to them when they were four, retreating into a Wii or DVD marathon or communing with the bottle. If you start thinking that you’re damaged, please, please recognize the perception as illusion and ask for another way to view your situation. Immersing yourself in quiet time and spiritual or creative pursuits is a positive way to vent the energy.
Against this backdrop, the week has a series of minor aspects that promise adjustment and productive friction. On Monday, Mars, the planet of our energy and inner drive, makes an adjustment aspect to Saturn, the overlord of structure and rules and currently the advocate of healthy boundaries and care of the self. You may hit a wall, a fork in the road or an imperative from authority of some sort. Even if your impulse is to run off in a certain direction, you do have a distinct and definite choice. Your will is now doing the bidding of your heart, so instead of reacting impulsively, make an informed choice that furthers your desires and values.
The friction aspect occurs between Mercury (thought) and Mars (action) on Tuesday, between Venus (love, money and desire) and each of Jupiter (expansion) and Neptune (transcendence and idealization) on Thursday and Friday and between Mercury and Venus on Sunday. This aspect can often work like sand in an oyster, when an irritation causes the growth of something of great value and beauty. This week, however, the effect is going to be more immediate and combustive. Because the fire sign Aries is involved in each of these contacts, they will give off sparks and bursts of flame and energy. When Mercury and Mars spark on Tuesday, thoughts and words that rub us the wrong way will spur us to do something. While the sparks coming off Venus on Thursday, Friday and Sunday could be slightly frustrating and irritating, with desires being teased and going unfulfilled, they have the potential of creating the charged and flirtatious atmosphere of a screwball comedy. Don’t take things too seriously; have fun with it.
Mercury’s retrograde takes the planet that rules communication and transportation back into the solid ground of Taurus on Wednesday. He’s returning to territory he plodded through at the end of last month. Take a fresh look at details and practicalities that reappear. You’ll have the chance to rearrange them, catch mistakes and put matters on a more firm footing.
Mundane: On a mass level, the current tightening of the triple conjunction of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune semi-sextile Uranus has been reflected by the hysteria over swine flu, with Jupiter escalating both the spread of the virus and a media frenzy that is blurring the line between responsibly disseminating information and sensationalizing the situation. You do not have to buy into panic. Take precautions, as Saturn in Virgo counsels, but keep your thoughts positive and optimistic. Energy flows where attention goes, and worrying is praying for what you don’t want.
