August’s New Moon in Leo launches the next phase of our lives. The Aquarius Full Moon two weeks ago jettisoned trappings that do not support the expression of our true voice, the shining of our light and a two-way flow of love. This New Moon turns the focus to the positive and the future. It is time to say yes to yourself, to let your voice sail and your light shine and to enjoy the giving and receiving of love. The skies invite you to step into your life’s purpose (which is, in simplest form, being yourself) and take your place in the community that is in alignment with you.
Pretty heady stuff, yet so fundamental, too. And we are ready for it. The incremental changes of the eclipses spit us out to this juncture. Internal hindrances and the external circumstances that reflected them have been stripped away or are in the process of being dismantled. It’s becoming harder and harder to stay in the situations that do not allow us to be ourselves, when every ounce of our being is drawing us to the ones that revel in just that. We like who we are, and we want that person to come out and play as much as possible.
The skies are giving incentive to let that happen. The last aspect that each of the Sun and the Moon make before meeting each other is a growth-promoting semisextile to Mars, the planet that rules how we use our energy. Your ambitions have matured and evolved, and so has your drive. Step even slightly out of your comfort zone and watch how easy it is to push yourself, your agenda and your goals forward. The Sun and the Moon are each tingling with this new vitality as they meet, and that heightened energy charges and kick starts this new phase. The first aspect that each of the Sun and the Moon make after meeting each other is a semisextile to Mercury, the planet that rules our mental processes and communication. Mercury will take the enthusiasm and dedication to self that this New Moon seeds and he will broadcast it far and wide, more effectively and in a voice truer to your own than he (and you) could have done previously. Nothing you set in motion under this New Moon is going into hiding. It’s spreading out into the world, from the start.
Intentions and goals set under this New Moon are more important than usual, because they pertain to the most basic aspect of your life: your own being. Be aware of the words and labels you are applying to yourself now; they are getting charged up, and how. You are in the cauldron of creation of your self. Do not limit its growth and possibilities with the specifics that you are capable of perceiving at this moment. Set your intentions in terms of the big picture, without attachment to any situations or people that you now think are coming into importance. Think in terms of qualities you want to experience. Think in terms of what makes you passionate and excited about being alive, and dedicate your path to that. Keep in mind, too, that this New Moon is setting the tone for more than the usual month. The companion Full Moon, the one that brings its culmination, will not happen until next summer. And it may well carry over to the next two rounds of Leo/Aquarius eclipses, up to 18-19 years from now.
The first big returns come this fall, though. Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune and Uranus will each contact the degree of this New Moon as they go direct over the course of the fall. The first three contacts, conjunctions all, will move you more and more into the community that’s going with you on this journey. The last, a growth aspect, will further unlock the you of you, so to speak, and peel off lingering remnants of your past way of being.
Special note to mid-1955-mid-1957 birthdays: This New Moon conjoins your natal Pluto/Jupiter conjunction, which Jupiter, Neptune, Chiron and Uranus have been working on for the past six months. They have been giving you a new perspective on your personal power, connecting you to vast intuition and guidance and putting early childhood issues so far into the past that they feel like someone else’s life. This New Moon skyrockets you to places you barely dared dream about before. Vestiges of arrested adolescence are going out the window, and you are collectively unleashing the full strength of what’s inside you. It will be fascinating to observe what you achieve and how you transform your worlds, individually and as a group.
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun and the Moon at 28 Leo is
MANY LITTLE BIRDS CHIRPING ON THE LIMB OF A LARGE TREE.
Commentary: ‘Many Little Birds Chirping on the Limb of a Large Tree’ is an image of fluttering and chirping, movement and song. The ‘Tree’ can seem packed with chattering and movement and yet the ‘Birds’ can be quite invisible. ‘Birds’ gathering, particularly at the end of the day, to chatter is common. The Symbol can reflect things like advertising, political campaigns, egotistical prattling and even children chatting and playing together.
Oracle: The common element in this Symbol is the attempt to have one’s voice heard above all the noise and din of the everyday world. It can be hard to gain the attention of others when there’s so much competition around. This also can be true when trying to listen to your own inner voice. It can feel like your needs or your voice is just one of so many, with little prospect or ability to have your ideas, opinions or plans heard. Perhaps you have a viewpoint or a project such as a book that you want to get “out there”. There may seem to be too many points of view, opinions or options now. Although the overall situation is probably secure and stable, there are still some confusions to be resolved. There may be many people or personalities that one has to deal with or look after. Further, you may be vulnerable to lots of chatter going on in your mind. When this happens it is useful to use a tool, such as the Sabian Symbols, to help you focus on your true objective. It can sometimes sound like a cacophony of sound, where the intuitive voice or wisdom is drowned out by noise from the emotional world inside. Try to relax and gain some perspective until things become a little more settled.

The Caution: Many voices-some heard, some not. Being confused or immobilized by too much advice or information. Too many sounds. Having trouble hearing the essential truth. A scattering of energies. Not getting a word in edgeways. Everybody talking and nobody listening. Being one of many. Noise and distraction. Staying with the mediocre. The masses.
The higher you go, the wider the spread of the network of communication that will make or break you. It extends not only to more people below, but to new levels above. And it extends all around, to endless other departments and interests interacting with yours. Donald Walton
