25 Pisces 10

A New Moon launches a new phase. This year’s Pisces New Moon simultaneously closes a chapter as well. True, there’s usually a cycle-ending feel to the New Moon in this sign, being as it is at the end of the zodiac. This month’s is tying up more than the usual cycle of the astrological year, though. It is the beginning of the end of the years that Uranus has spent in Pisces, which began in 2003, and is the last New Moon (during our lifetimes) that will occur in that sign with him in residence.
This New Moon has a pile up of activity from the end of Aquarius (current location of Pisces’ ruler, Neptune) through the end of Pisces (current location of Aquarius’ ruler, Uranus). Neptune and Chiron hold down the Aquarian end, one growth aspect away from the cluster formed by the Moon, the Sun, Mercury and Uranus in Pisces. Jupiter’s in between, out of conjunction range of each end. The outer planets in this group have spent a lot of time resonating with each other over the last year. They have helped us bridge physical and spiritual existence in one unbroken connection, and this gathering has a bit of a summing-up of the evolution that we’ve been undergoing. How is each of us connected to our spirit and to each other? This New Moon will shine sharp light into universal waters and each individual unconscious and jolt us into looking at them from a radically different perspective.
Mercury and Uranus, the two planets that represent our mind, are in a tight, tight conjunction that completely colors the New Moon, which is only a degree and a half from them. Mercury rules our usual mental processes — how we take in information, process it and send it out. The winged messenger’s ambit covers things that go through the air, as well as short, quick trips and the vehicles we use to make them. Uranus has a different relationship with mental processes. He rules things that rain down from the sky, like lightning — flashes of genius and inspiration that tip our vantage point and cause us to see something outside our previous frame of reference. Uranus also brings change not just in perspective, but also in circumstances, structures and expectations.
Put the two together and this New Moon promises quite the exciting light show, with messages out of the blue, messages from unexpected sources, information that wipes our lenses clean (possibly even shatters them and requires a new set), strokes of genius, eruptions of insight, disruptions of information channels (watch your technology!), news of separations, news that breaks us from attachments, news that shows how connected we are in ways that we didn’t previously see, one bolt of lightning after another. Some of what we might be seeing differently has to do with the year-long process that has brought the spiritual aspect of our existence firmly down to earth. Don’t be surprised if a puzzle piece falls into your lap that rearranges the picture you have made for that process or tweaks the saga you have been telling of your personal abiding wound. There is an enormously liberating potential in this New Moon party. In fact, it’s more than a potential and more than a probability; it is a given. We may not be able to predict what specifically will break apart, break up or break open as this New Moon unfolds, but we can certainly open ourselves to the process, as well as ask for insight, guidance and assistance. The timing is perfect. We’re only a couple of months out from Uranus’ first move into Aries. We don’t have to carry our old stories, attachments and points of view with us as Uranus begins a new cycle of traveling through the zodiac. We can leave a lot behind now.
The reverberations, static and shock waves of this New Moon will continue to hang in the air. They will remain with Uranus during his last months in Pisces and touch every planet that comes into contact with him. Mercury completes the conjunction to him less than an hour after the New Moon. The Sun formally meets Uranus on Wednesday. Saturn opposes him yet again at the end of April. Each of these will tingle, even if only subtly, with the charge of today’s New Moon.
Pisces is the sign of universality and connectedness. This New Moon casts a different light on that truth. Yes, we are one; we are all connected; we are all in this life together. Each of us is still on an individual mission, though, and this Moon drives home that point somehow. Your marching orders are coming. It’s time to venture out.
Here is Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Sabian Symbol for the New Moon at 26 Pisces, reprinted with her kind permission from her book The Sabian Symbols As An Oracle, the Special Edition:
A NEW MOON REVEALS THAT IT’S TIME FOR PEOPLE TO GO AHEAD WITH THEIR DIFFERENT PROJECTS.
Commentary: ‘A New Moon Reveals That it’s Time For People to Go Ahead With Their Different Projects’ shows the realization of a new time dawning; there’s a new beginning. Each month, at the ‘New Moon’, there is the necessary energy and impetus to get new things started. It is conventionally a time to put energy into anything “new” in your life, as it will have forward momentum.
Oracle: There’s an image here of the emergence of new possibilities and new horizons, as ‘It’s Time For People to Go Ahead With Their Different Projects’. This Symbol can imply a moving away from or a splitting up of people, however this may not always be the case. There could be a call for a couple to split off from the rest of the family, or somebody might need some space to be alone or get on with something they want or need to do. Hence it doesn’t always mean a split or separation, although it certainly can. People have their own responses to situations, so it is important not to expect everyone to react in the same way when something unexpected, or new, comes up. Periodically, there is a need to let things go from the past. Relationships, jobs, friendships; in fact any situation at all might be coming to completion, or needing a break for a while. There can be the feeling of a dividing wall coming up between you and others. This situation may have been brewing for some time and now the consequences of it are coming to light. However, if people are given their own measure of freedom, they may come back together when the time and the energy is right. Perhaps it’s a good idea to direct some energy into a new project at the time of the next ‘New Moon’. Light a candle and state your intentions with honesty and feel the effects of the rewards that can come flooding in with this new beginning. Remember to honor “the other”, the other person who may have their own ‘Project’ or path to follow.
