“Fear is the cheapest room in the house. I would like to see you living in better conditions.” ~Hāfez

What you may have experienced over these past few weeks, since the solar eclipse on June 1st in Gemini is a feeling of being drawn out of your self. By that I mean finding your self in situations that require of you more—more presence, more compassion, more patience, more awareness. Really, all the characteristics with which we most want to be associated. It is feeling on a deeper level who you are and then allowing your self expression in the external world.

This New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees Cancer gives us all a greater opportunity to reach within, connect with emotional elements that are sometimes scary or messy to deal with and let them breathe. During this lunar phase you need to remember to breathe. The moon is involved in a grand square with Pluto, Saturn and Uranus. Pluto in opposition to the moon-elimination of past patterns that may be deeply rooted. Saturn and Uranus squaring the moon—seriously focused on change that is liberating. No wiggle room here! Nowhere to go, can’t run, can’t hide. With the moon in its own sign there will be issues around nurturing, mothering, ‘home’, the personal unconscious and our roots. Insecurities related to an inadequate or inappropriate experience during childhood or beyond are up for scrutiny because they simply do not serve us.

What is there to fear? What is there to protect? What if you did get a crack in your shell? Wouldn’t the light get out? Make your intention during this New Moon to bravely tread where you may not have in the past. Some of our greatest sensitivities lie in our connection to our mothers. Naturally, she is the one in whom we first put our trust and if that sense of trust was eroded for any reason we may have very quickly built defenses to protect our self. But, in order to be free to be an expression of the true self we must trust enough to let go of what is comfortable and leap head first into the unknown. With heart pounding, legs quaking, mind resisting discover what lies buried within the confines of those ancient walls. It will surprise you. Rather than some frightening story veiled with sorrow and suffering you will find a shining hero waiting to be given the freedom to proceed with the rest of the journey with courage and daring.

Here there is a passionate desire to live life on the edge of perpetual change. Change means growth and evolution. Change happens, whether we are aware of it or not. The moon constantly moves through its phases, something that Cancer is most familiar with, the rising and falling of the cycle of the emotions for example. There is as much security in the cycle of change, as it is always, as there is in the desire for things to stay the same. One however is a reality while the other is an illusion which creates disappointment and suffering. Best to ask your self what lies behind the unopened door rather than crossing the threshold that has been crossed many times before. There is nothing new to be gained from an experience you have already had numerous times.

An interesting aspect of this New Moon chart is the conjunction of the Black Moon Lilith and Ceres. The Black Moon Lilith represents our point of empowerment therefore our deepest fears also reside here. Frozen in time, ancient wounds lie buried deep within the realm of this maligned aspect of human nature, our capacity for connecting with all that is—within, without, in nothingness and in everything we must see our selves and know that we are, each and every one of us and all things, perfect.

Ceres, the mother, one of the first goddesses of earth and all that grows in abundance here. Wherever she is in your chart helps to define your relationship with your biological mother and the mother within. The fact that Black Moon Lilith conjuncts this asteroid goddess during this New Moon in Cancer is an indication that we choose to see the mother within that allows us to be free of the need for ‘that’ from the external environment—“I love my self. I nurture my self and I care for my self. And, I do this as an expression of the divine essence that I am.”

Black Moon Lilith also forms a novile with Pluto. The novile for those who may not be familiar with this aspect is a 40 or 80 degree separation that relates to the ninth harmonic something I skipped over in the Full Moon article of June 15th. Nine being the number of evolution would indicate the potential for transformation on a deep level that could affect the secondary and tertiary programs that lay at key junctures of the altered DNA.

This conjunction aspects Venus in Gemini by square. This does not allow us to get caught up in any frivolous personal desires that serve to flatter the ego. And with Mercury in Cancer trining Black Moon and Ceres the mind is apt to go deep rather than superficial. Not surprising.

Black Moon Lilith also forms a novile with Pluto. The novile for those who may not be familiar with this aspect is a 40 or 80 (bi-novile) degree separation that relates to the ninth harmonic a topic I skipped over quickly in the Full Moon article of June 15th. Nine being the number of evolution would indicate here the potential for transformation on a deep level that could affect the secondary and tertiary programs that lay at key junctures of the altered DNA.

This is a highly charged New Moon chart! To continue, the fixed star Alhena, in the constellation Gemini, lies at 9 degrees Cancer and therefore is in exact conjunction with this sun/moon. To understand the meaning of this conjunction for this particular chart we find that Alhena is situated in the left foot of the southern twin Pollux, the immortal twin whose father was Jupiter. Castor his brother was sired by a human and therefore was denied immortality. The feet are often referred to as the site of our spiritual nature. Think of how feet in the bible were so frequently washed and anointed with oil.

With this star conjunction is an additional impetus for making that connection to what we have discussed previously, the essence of the divine within which, as long as we have fear may remain as remote or misunderstood as our notion that freedom is something we experience in every moment. While experiencing a greater awareness of the divine essence you may find your self being motivated toward creativity in a way that you have not in the past. If you have always wanted to create but haven’t quite found your way of expressing that part of your nature, now is the time for child-like enthusiasm for all things artistic. Alhena provides the ‘light and energy’ for creative endeavor. Once you begin there may be no turning back!

With Saturn so strongly configured in this New Moon chart (also trines mars in Gemini) there is apt to be a serious and focused determination to succeed in all actions that serve the highest good. Gemini, ruled by Mercury is the messenger and Mars is the hero who will act to bring us to a higher level of understanding and communication. Though a New Moon is essentially without light and as this is a solar eclipse what we will find rather than darkness, is a wealth of light and a glimpse of enlightenment that will propel us into a long awaited peace.
