Weekly Weather Report

Significant Planetary Aspects for:

This week is brought to you by the planets Neptune and Uranus. One is the planet of transcending earthly existence (from the sublime to the delusional), the other is the one that shakes it up, and they’re all over this week’s action. All the major astrological moments of involve involve one of them, and they’re both affecting every one of the major bodies in some way. What’s more, they’re working together. They’re in a special relationship called mutual reception, which means that each is in the sign that the other rules. Uranus is sending electricity into the we-are-one waters of Pisces; Neptune is adding transcendence and a touch of the divine to Aquarius’ vision. We’ve been living with this blended energy since 2003, so long that it’s become part of the backdrop of existence and not something that we consciously notice. This week, we could notice.

The week begins with a Full Moon in Leo. It’s also a lunar eclipse, two-thirds of the way through the Leo/Aquarius eclipse cycle that started last February 6. This axis explores the dichotomy between the individual’s need for acknowledgement for being special and the points of commonality that define a community. How do you reconcile getting your time in the spotlight and furthering the common good? Simple: When you let your Self shine, everyone benefits. This Full Moon will bring an escalation of matters that began a year ago or ramped up last August, though more plot twists await between now and next August. Because it is a lunar eclipse, it will shed a different and revealing light on what has been building. (The Moon’s opposition to Neptune right after the eclipse will also unearth nuances that were previously hidden from our view.) Because the Moon in Leo has quite the flair for the dramatic, emotions will be aggrandized in whatever direction they go. Uranus is in charge, so a liberated perspective and movement toward the future are inevitable.

Think of this lunar eclipse as a personal follow-up on the Saturn/Uranus opposition that peaked last Thursday. The outside structures of life are changing, and now it’s time to assimilate and make changes on the inside, intellectually and emotionally, as well. The Full Moon is interlocked with that opposition, making a tight X-marks-the-spot across the Leo/Aquarius and Virgo/Pisces areas in your chart. You get to change the ground rules of your life. With Chiron conjunct the Sun, what you install will be fundamentally healing and healthy for you. With Neptune in the same sign as the Sun – and in mutual reception with its host, Uranus – the eclipse offers another opportunity for weaving your spiritual, emotional and intellectual lives into one cohesive whole.

If you aren’t inspired to make changes at the beginning of the week, don’t worry. The motivation will come as Mars moves into an uncomfortable aspect to his current ruler Uranus on Thursday. The previous way of doing anything no longer fits. Turn problems upside down and inside out, and an innovative solution will be apparent. For more information about the lunar eclipse, read my Full Moon article on the site.

After the eclipse, the first item on the agenda for both the Sun and the Moon is taking their leave of Chiron. The Moon opposes him and the Sun passes him shortly after the eclipse. These moments stretch our emotional attachment to core wounds and redefine them as strengths instead of deficiencies. Next on both luminaries’ agenda is a date with Neptune. The Moon’s private time comes about four and a half hours after the eclipse. She has enough distance from the cosmic fog machine to perceive what he’s been up to and emotionally separate herself from any confusion, illusions and deceptions that’s revealed. What you do with this can fall along any number of spots on a very wide spectrum of possibilities over the following days, as the Sun meets Neptune by declination on Wednesday and by conjunction on Thursday. You can receive this information with compassion and use it to strengthen your connection to guidance greater than your conscious mind. You can romanticize the situation and particularly your role in it and disregard extremely important and useful evidence to the contrary. You can play the role of martyr or waste irreplaceable days of your life throwing a pity party or escaping chemically. If you’ve been working with the Uranian insights and shifts (or, at least, not fighting them), your experience of the Sun/Neptune meetings has every probability of falling on the positive and uplifting end of the spectrum. All aspects of your being, spiritual as well as worldly, can connect into a cohesive whole that stretches from the depths of your heart up into the depths of the cosmos.

As the weekend comes, Mercury is finishing his clean-up work in pragmatic Capricorn and heading back into the electrical charges of airy Aquarius, which he reenters on Saturday. Even though he’s got another week before he clears the retrograde shadow, communication will move at a zippier pace. Solutions to puzzles will come more easily, and information that has been stalled or sluggish will start falling into place.
