Significant Planetary Aspects for:

Transcendence and forgiveness are on tap. While our inner and outer landscapes have been in near-constant upheaval, a gentle, soothing influence has been dawning. You may not have been conscious of it, but think about how your relationship with yourself has been subtly shifting in the past couple of weeks. Whatever your personal recurring issue is – the theme that keeps cropping up again and again no matter how much you work on it – hasn’t your reaction to it been different, even if only in some small way? Haven’t you become aware of its presence earlier, looked at it (and yourself) with less emotional charge and responded in a more empowered, self-affirming way? This softening has been going on within you; if it hasn’t grabbed your attention, open yourself to it now.

Chiron has quietly come to spend the week with Neptune. Chiron, the wounded healer, represents the abiding wound; Neptune represents transcendence of earthly existence. They’ve been in the same neighborhood for the past year or so, but now Chiron is right alongside Neptune, whom he’ll revisit in July and January. They have been teaching that the wounding experiences in your early life no longer have to limit and hurt you, but are the source of a great and unique strength. With the Neptune/Chiron conjunction, it is high time to transcend negative definitions and treat your inner wound as an ally instead of an excuse for inaction or pity. It’s an integral part of you like any limb or organ. You wouldn’t yell at your hand for having four fingers and an opposable thumb; you’d use it for tasks that suit it, like picking up and manipulating objects. You benefit from giving the same treatment to your wounding. It caused you to develop traits and abilities that now can be useful to you and of service to others. Perhaps you’re a role model; perhaps you can say something that will be heard and accepted by a person who’s struggling with a situation you have overcome and would reject messages from anyone who has not been in his position.

Understanding the purpose or the impact on others isn’t necessary, though. The important aspect, for you, is dropping resistance (and victimhood) and accepting the totality of your being. That involves forgiving the people in your personal drama, past and present, including – and especially – yourself. Gentle methods are in order: baths, naps, flower essences, prayer, meditation, art and music. When memories come up, do not chew on them or beat yourself up; do something to release them from your body. If you suddenly see your role in a different and not so blameless light, acknowledge the new perspective and release it, too. Maybe you can’t rewrite the facts of what happened to you (though some people would argue that you can). You can certainly reshape your reaction to the events, as well as the ongoing effect you allow them to have on your instinctive actions. The bounty of the Neptune/Chiron conjunction is a blossoming of compassion and love. Open yourself to it. Allow yourself to give it and, above all, receive it. Gentle and profoundly important cleansing is at hand. Immerse yourself in it.

This will not only feel good, but quickly unleash indications of how much better life is and will continue to be. Midas-touched Jupiter is moving close to Chiron and Neptune’s meeting point and subtly cranking up the impact of their collaboration. His agenda includes two delivery dates for proof of how much more expansive your life has become. The first is April 11, when he crosses the degree of February’s Full Moon lunar eclipse. Watch for developments that would not have come to you without the decisions and realizations you made in early February. The second is mid-May, when Jupiter spends 10 days at the degree currently occupied by Neptune and Chiron before he joins Neptune himself. The forgiveness, transcendence, compassion and love that pour out this week will flow directly into mid-May and link to the events that unfold then.

This is not entirely a week for receptiveness, though. We are being called to action, at last. Mars, the planet of action, is moving out of the reach of Saturn’s brakes (the planets exactly opposed last Saturday) and heading for Uranus, which he’ll meet Wednesday of next week. The positive potential of the meeting of this volatile pair is unconventional, paradigm-breaking movement. There could also be a lot of breaking (open, apart, up, down) and acting without forethought. Set the intention to tread and act gently (and then check in with that intention and reaffirm it periodically). Mars and Uranus have the combined ability to target the most vulnerable stress point in a structure, so that what what’s intended as a slight touch causes the works to collapse, like an old cartoon gag. This makes for efficient use of energy if you intend to knock the structure down, but it can be mighty disorienting if you didn’t know the building was already teetering.

Fortunately, we’re unlikely to be running around in cartoonish chaos this week, because Mars is in an exact growth aspect to Thursday’s Full Moon in Libra. This aspect encourages motivations and actions that further the projects we are developing. The Full Moon lights up the dichotomy between the drive to be a free agent and the need to coexist and get along with other people. Under this Full Moon, we both are looking at and taking action on what we have been cultivating since the beginning of February, when the Leo Full Moon lunar eclipse took place at a degree that is harmonious with the location of this week’s lunation. We have the opportunity now to see what has come, if anything, from the decisions and realizations we made in February and then to move forward on them. The ongoing opposition between Saturn and Uranus is part of this Full Moon, as it was in February. The difference is that Saturn and Uranus’ relationship to the Sun and Moon has evolved into growth and adjustment aspects, so that our minds and hearts are actively engaging with the environment of change, rather than having it thrust upon them. For a deeper look, read my Full Moon report on the site.

Mercury enters Taurus Thursday AM, about a half an hour before the Moon is full. The sign change puts him into a trine with Pluto, which is exact during the dark of Saturday morning. All of Mercury’s domain is shedding impulsive, coltish energy and calming down into the sensible and practical. In Aries, our thoughts dash about like volunteer firemen on a rescue mission; in Taurus, they turn to unhurried rumination. Because Mercury rules transportation, this shift will noticeably affect the national dialogue about ailing car manufacturers. Proposals will not be reactive and shot from the hip, but concrete and focused on the nitty-gritty of balance sheets and product quality. With the cosmic messenger emboldened by his collaboration with Pluto, Mercury’s first two days in Taurus will bring a fearless, unapologetic, even ruthless efficiency to communications. Friday and Saturday will be full of bold statements that cut to the heart of matters. The cuts might sting but they will be clean. If you’ve been wanting to clear the air, you could get your message across with an uncommon economy and clarity of words.

The week ends with Venus retrograding into Pisces on Saturday. The love goddess has been inviting us to reexamine what we value (relationships, money, our own talents, abilities and inherent self-worth) since she turned retrograde in Aries at the beginning of March. This reexamination often comes from situations and people from the past resurfacing, either in thoughts or right in front of us. (Online social networking is helping out by making it easier for exes to come to your notice, if not actually contact you.) During her two-week return to Pisces, she will be summoning ghosts that demonstrate how you once sacrificed yourself for what you perceived as a worthwhile exchange. You may get an earthbound-view that reveals the fantasy in an old situation or calculates the personal cost in terms you now grasp. Venus will go direct on the 18th and reenter Aries on the 24th, where Pluto will be waiting to refine yet again our attitudes about love, money and our own value.
