This week should feel relatively quieter or at least less disruptive.
Last week’s theme of integration remains with us for the next two months and beyond. The masculine and feminine moved into alignment when Venus and Mars met at the final degree of the zodiac last Tuesday. For some people the approach to this meeting brought tears and a profound sense of sorrow and loneliness. For some, the planetary union brought a meaningful encounter, even if it played out as only the sensation of being truly seen and understood by another. For many of us, the conjunction silenced an internal conflict – about self-worth or esteem, about deserving, between what the heart wants and what the mind thinks it should have. It’s as if we all received permission to go after what we really value. Now we see that the permission wasn’t momentary; it’s become part of life.
That’s what will be happening now as Venus and Mars move together through each other’s home bases, a journey that will last well into the summer. They are currently on the warrior god’s turf of fearless, impulsive and self-starting Aries. Mars is at the lead, rushing toward what he now knows Venus wants. Venus is close by, more comfortable than usual in this brash, assertive sign because she is traveling with its ruler and working in harmony with him. Watch for signs of their alliance in relationship and financial matters, particularly in your own approach. Odds are you will have a quick and clear knowing of what you do and don’t want, and odds are you will follow through with bold and unapologetic action.
That knowing is in for sharpening, too. There may be some purging or shedding left to do, when Venus makes her last of three squares to Pluto on Saturday. (The others were on February 5 and April 3.) Venus and Pluto have some similarity in interests, but with a different vibe. Both deal with money, though Pluto’s figures have a lot more zeros at the end; both traffic in desire, though Pluto’s version is tinged with magnetism, compulsion, obsession, possessiveness and/or illicit thrills. Events around the dates of the earlier squares might provide some clues about what is likely to heat up for you this weekend, but it’s also possible that this final square will clean up some matters that were previously left untouched. Relationship triangles may heat up. You may desire something so fervently and desperately that you are compelled to act. Because of the paring and purifying impact that Pluto wields, it is probable that attitudes about love or money are in for streamlining (which may include a specific relationship or financial situation ending or being forever transformed).
This process fits in perfectly with the ongoing collaboration Venus is enjoying with Mars. Before that pair gets deeper into their teamwork, Pluto is forcing Venus into brutal honesty about her bottom line. Nothing will stay in her treasury or on her wish list unless she truly, deeply values it. This final square will focus what she and Mars do as they travel together. They – and we – will not waste effort and energy on matters that don’t further that bottom line. Remember that this weekend. We have long been in the process of allowing our true selves to come to the surface and find expression. As the inner planets have moved into Aries, each square to Pluto has stripped away people, situations, behaviors and thought patterns that do not support who we really are. That process is behind any intensity you experience this weekend. Confront the process consciously. Anywhere in your life that you are feeling discord or a sense that something is off, line the situation up against your core values and see if the reason for your discomfort doesn’t jump out. If you are compelled to make big changes – or if big changes happen to you – the immediate aftermath will feel clean, clear and harmonious, as Venus and Mars meet again by declination on Sunday.
Other cosmic traveling companions remain close as well. Throughout the week, Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune tighten their conjunction. Jupiter and Neptune are each only a degree away from Chiron, who is between them and in an exact growth aspect to Uranus. Last spring, all these planets and Chiron were in a protracted contact that opened the opportunity for expansive, liberating transcendence of longstanding wounds. This spring, that opportunity has become actuality. Jupiter’s proximity to Chiron may be fanning your awareness of your wound, but that doesn’t doom you to falling back into old behaviors. Each of us has grown into a very different relationship to our individual abiding wounds in the last year, and we have moved beyond being held back or constrained by them.
Against this backdrop of traveling parties, Mercury leaves stalwart Taurus on Thursday and zips into one of his homes, Gemini. It will feel as if communication is speeding up, but don’t worry if something flies past too quickly for you to grasp it fully. Mercury is already in the shadow of his next retrograde. He entered the shadow last Wednesday, April 22, and will turn retrograde on Thursday, May 7. We will have ample opportunity to go back over everything that occurs between now and the end of May, when he turns direct. Let your mind soar and enjoy moving nimbly. Don’t worry about figuring out now what’s important. Whatever needs to boomerang back to you will when the time is right.
