Significant Planetary Aspects for:

Uranus goes retrograde on Wednesday. With his shift, all the outer planets are retrograde for the rest of the summer and beyond, except for Saturn, who does not exactly make things scurry along when he’s direct. We’re in for months of stretching and kneading our beliefs, our visions, our connections to community and to spirit, and experiencing little inclination to rush through the process. More inner unlocking is in store and likely outer ones as well. As Uranus retraces the territory he’s crossed since mid-March, he will throw lightning bolts that expand and refresh our perspective and splinter beliefs and situations that are already teetering. It’s all to our benefit. Jupiter, Neptune, Chiron and Uranus have been providing an intangible but powerful safety net since they started weaving in and out of this aspect and that to each other last year. Whatever rains down from them — blurring, insight, crumbling, disintegration, relief, freedom — their gift is, ultimately, an increase in light, optimism and faith, directly improving life here on terra firma.

Now, to be honest, bliss is not the only fall out. This configuration is also sending off confusion and disorientation. It’s hard to tell what’s real, who to believe and what to trust. Multiple levels of reality overlay us, in every aspect of life, even seemingly insignificant ones. Sometimes these levels line up in sharp resolution; sometimes they don’t. None of us is consistently in any one place, either. You can be in a layer with one set of perceived attributes and then slide from one another or wiggle back and forth between two or more. You can be operating from one level while the people around you are in another, even though it looks as if you are all in the same place. You can also straddle levels or be in several at once, which is something we’re becoming increasingly conscious of.

Frequently lately, physical data is saying one thing, while your intuition or inner knowing is telling you something else. Don’t let the surface details distract you. Stick with the nonphysical read. It’s telling you the big-picture truth, whether the surface details are right or not. This can be hard to trust. We are used to wanting to know, but we have to continue on, right now, with our minds not knowing. You may well be picking up lies or covering up (both of which are by-products of the triple conjunction). You just don’t have all the data yet — or aren’t perceiving all of it yet — to reconcile these apparent contradictions when they crop up.

There is a way to do it; there is at least one vantage point and level of reality where everything that looks like a contradiction is all true. We’re learning how to operate guidance systems that take us there, by working outside our immediate physical input. It’s like using sonar or radar or satellite feeds. We’re practicing new ways of retrieving, perceiving and interpreting data. For the rest of the summer and into the fall, as the outer planet retrogrades take us back over the unfinished, these new systems will show us information that we didn’t grasp the first time around. The more regularly you pause your daily routine and sit quietly, the less woozy you will feel when shifts in reality or apparent contradictions occur, and the more deftly and confidently you’ll process and interpret multi-level data feeds.

As if to give Uranus a push-off, Jupiter makes a growth aspect to him Tuesday evening. We are maturing more and more into our true selves and places in the groups and communities that are in alignment with us. Remember: Form follows thought. As thought improves, form improves. Whether you’ve recognized evidence of that so far this year or not, open yourself now in the Uranus station. Life will blossom exponentially — and you will get flashes of clarity that cut through the intermittent fuzziness and confusion.

Midweek, Venus, Mercury and the Sun all have appointments with the triple conjunction in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces. Most of this activity is on Wednesday, when Uranus goes retrograde. There’s no point in steering the day, because you can’t. Adopt the attitude that anything can happen. Venus squares Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter over the course of Wednesday. This pressures our relationships, bank accounts and personal inventory of worthiness — not necessarily in an uncomfortable way, because easy-going Jupiter is at the end of the gauntlet. Fantasies may heighten or collapse; a wounded or wounding relationship or financial issue may demand attention; desires may urge us to indulge. Whatever mundane guise these squares adopt, they are pushing our hearts into illumination, healing and wisdom. The contact burnishes our hearts and brings them (along with our desires, relationships, values and esteem for ourselves) more into alignment with spirit.

After Venus stares down the gauntlet, Mercury jumps in and finishes the course before her. He trines Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter, linking our thoughts and communications to higher wisdom, compassion and healing and infusing our minds with optimism and joy. In the process, he hits a growth aspect to Venus that greases the wheels of communication. No more overanalyzing or trying to talk yourself out of your feelings or running conversations in your head in advance; notice how naturally speaking from the heart comes and feels now. If there’s something you’d benefit by changing in the hookup between heart and mouth (or keyboard/phone pad), you’ll be shown when Mercury squares Uranus. The impact dislodges important information and rattles perspectives. Since this square involves mutable signs, any necessary change should happen fluidly.

So Wednesday will be momentous, like a multi-ball pinball game playing out in daily life. Whatever transpires, the payoff comes overnight. Venus finishes the run with a growth aspect to the cosmic awakener while the western hemisphere is sleeping Thursday morning. Hearts open during the night. Write down your dream fragments for evidence of how yours has grown.

Thursday and Friday, the Sun has agitating brushes with Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter. The ego is not yet entirely comfortable with the new way of being. Receiving data from non-rational (and sometimes non-worldly) sources still has its disconcerting moments. Don’t be sidetracked. By week’s end, when the Moon sextiles the trio, the chance comes around to get a handle on the process again.

Two planets are leaving home this week. Friday afternoon the cosmic messenger descends from Gemini and touches down on the waters of Cancer. He’ll float, swim and occasionally submerge there until July 17. Mercury in Cancer opens the floodgates to emotions and turns our thoughts and words to matters of safety and security — home, family, traditions, who’s taking care of whom. Since he’s airborne by nature and not entirely comfortable with feelings, this transit can bring an upsurge in sensitivity, moodiness, brooding and taking things personally. This time around, we cut through or cut away a lot of the garbage. Less than a day after entering Cancer, Mercury opposes Pluto Saturday, late in the morning EDT. There’ll be no idle chit chat this weekend. Communications are deep, penetrating, amputating and cauterizing. Whatever is expressed stands for good; nothing can be taken back.

Our emotional lives changed forever at the Cancer New Moon on June 22. Now we wrap our minds around the changes, speak openly about them and focus on the future and new growth. We can’t push these changes down or delay them any longer. The truth is being revealed. It may be harsh. It may hurt, more than you ever thought you could endure or inflict. But it does not have to torment; it can heal like a surgeon’s knife. None of what is thought or spoken will be “bad” news. Hard, maybe; scary, maybe; transforming and empowering, for certain.

Venus is moving out and on, too. She spends the week zooming ahead of her cosmic lover Mars. Before their June 21 meeting, he led the advance, clearing the way for her comfort. Our will was paving the way for our hearts; now hearts are moving forward confidently, with the security of having the will trotting right behind. By the end of the week, on Sunday, Venus will leave Mars behind in her cushy Taurus home while she floats into the breezes of Gemini. They’re comfortable to her. She enjoys socializing and flirting and the freedom to flit from one attraction to another. This time, as her stay begins, it’s with the certainty that her will and ambition are on track with her heart’s desires. It’s as if Mars is holding the string to her kite as she lifts off and dances on the air currents. That teamwork is happening for each of us personally, too. Our will and reason are anchoring us on the physical plane while our hearts explore the space above.

This momentous week ends with a void of course Moon Sunday afternoon. Because the Moon’s last contact is to Jupiter, the atmosphere is happy and warm-hearted…on the surface. Leisure time teems with undercurrents from the deep, though. Venus’ first act in her new sign is to face down Pluto by declination within the void, shortly after it starts. Beneath the afternoon’s pleasant veneer, powerful desires are swirling about. They’re magnetic, all-consuming and passionate, entreating and luring you to succumb. Be honest (with yourself at least) about what you want to possess — and about what possesses you. And be mindful of the triangles in your life. They will not be brushed away, and they may not stay in hiding places, no matter how carefully designed.
