This is a major week. The rebooting that has been sparking and sparking since the solstice finally catches and begins in earnest now, with the total solar eclipse of the New Moon in Cancer. We get a good, strong dose of the themes the eclipses will unfold for us over the next year. If we have not fully grasped the metamorphosis brewing in our attitudes about home, career, nurturing and responsibility, clarity is coming. We also start to gain some objectivity and perspective on the benefits the Aquarian triple conjunction has been bringing each of us.
We launch the week putting our ducks in a row, with a sequence of meetings on the ecliptic. On Monday, Mercury meets Mars and Venus while the Sun meets Venus and Mercury, all by declination. The mind aligns with the will and the heart; our self aligns with the heart and the mind. Mid-evening, the mind and the will have the opportunity to cooperate via a Mercury/Mars sextile. All the parts of our being are locking together into a unified team. We stopped being at odds with ourselves weeks ago — for some of us, months ago. All of our parts are working together toward the same goals and dreams, with self-sabotage and ambivalence only a fading memory. Today’s meetings are prep work and a warm-up for Tuesday evening’s fusing of the masculine and feminine in a total solar eclipse.
As if to pump the energy, though, the masculine and the feminine engage in a catalyzing skirmish late afternoon Tuesday EDT, about six hours before the eclipse. Venus squares Saturn and demands that we do something about their discord. Our current values and sense of our worth may not fit existing obligations and responsibilities. Someone may say no to something we desire in a relationship or financial matter. Money may be tight, or we may bump into the reality of the cost of pursuing a desire. Notice what you butt up against and what demands attention. It’s a signal of something that hasn’t moved into alignment yet. The change may need to take place inside of you, or it may involve a structure in your life that is due for addressing.
Late Tuesday evening in the Western Hemisphere, the Sun and Moon meet in the second Cancer New Moon of the year, a total solar eclipse at the last degree of the sign. The first Cancer New Moon, on June 22, opposed Pluto and set off transformations in our relationships to our homes and careers and in our commitment to our own emotional sustenance. This second Cancer New Moon is also in aspect to Pluto, this time in an inconjunct. The time has come to begin adjusting our home and career situations to fit the emotional changes we underwent at the end of June. You don’t have to take drastic action unless that’s what you’re guided to do. The adjustments can roll out gradually and organically. The first measuring point will come at the Capricorn Full Moon lunar eclipse of December 31. The cycle will continue to play out through next July, when the final eclipse in this round occurs. As a result, take careful note of the wishes and intentions that are occupying your mind now. They have great and potent staying power. The entire eclipse cycle is reactivating matters from 2000-2002 and 1990-1992. This week’s solar eclipse is at the same degree as the Cancer New Moon solar eclipse of July 21, 1990 and is rebooting themes from that time. The Moon and the Sun leave their meeting to slip into Leo, the Moon on Tuesday and the Sun on Wednesday. The Moon’ll move on by Thursday, but the Sun and Mercury are in this warm-hearted, playful territory for the next few weeks. Their residence in Leo will make it all the easier for us to keep our focus on ourselves and not worry about (or try to control) other people’s actions. Leo reminds us that we are the center of our own universes. This placement also underscores that the emotional adjustments we’re making are for our ultimate benefit. The Sun and Mercury are now in an opposition by sign to Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius. As the Sun and Mercury move closer to exact opposition, they will distance us enough from the fogs of the triple conjunction to give us perspective on and a slew of messages about what this magical configuration has been bringing us. The Sun ends the week at the degree where Mercury started it. By Sunday we should have assimilated the first wave of messages and updated our definitions of ourselves to incorporate them.
Also on Wednesday, Jupiter perfects his second exact conjunction with Chiron. They have been conjunct to some degree for several months and will remain in a loose union throughout the year. Their exact meetings, however, spike the potential for massive healing and empowerment. (They were exactly conjunct in late May and will meet once again on December 7.) Envision yourself as whole; cast off words and labels that paint you as debilitated, damaged or less than perfectly yourself. Even if you are in a condition that meets someone else’s so-called empirical definition of disabled, do not let it define or constrain you. This meeting can show you the inherent strength and power you have, despite — and perhaps because of — the issues that wounded you. Leave the past in the past. You are here now, and you are exactly right for this time.
The solar eclipse, the Plutonian adjustments and the Jupiter/Chiron healing overshadow the activity in the sky for the rest of the week. Watch for discomfort in communications on Saturday, when the planet of communication has a rough time with Pluto. The adjustment process is dredging up topics that must be discussed, and our mental ease with them is not the deciding factor. (In fact, certain situations may hit the point that you have to speak or hear hard truths.) Sunday finds the ego chafing at responsibilities, obligations or demands of someone in authority. It’s a passing disruption to the weekend, which rides out on a lovely Venus/Jupiter trine just after midnight EDT. The wind-down of the weekend will be very pleasurable for those of us who stay up late. For the rest of it, it spells sweet dreams indeed. The first wave of adjustments are taking us exactly where our hearts want to be. Remember that.
