The summer’s eclipses are behind us at last. They have permanently changed us inside and out. There’s been so much going on, and so constantly, too, you might not be aware of just how much you’ve shifted. Compare your current state with where you were around the solstice. See the difference? You are more internally whole, less invested or intertwined in outer situations and arrangements and more committed to the care and feeding of your own heart.
The change-in-progress was already noticeable at each of July’s two eclipses. No matter how much you thought you had progressed, last Wednesday’s lunar eclipse in Aquarius showed there was more to move through. After the Cancer/Capricorn eclipses had us internalizing responsibility for our own nurturing (becoming our own parents, in effect), the Aquarius Full Moon pushed us to look at the condition of our inner child and how well our life is set up to allow it to play and shine. As this eclipse wrapped up an 18-month cycle, realizations started going off days in advance. I observed an epidemic of reviewing the past, with the resulting emotional state depending on whether the reviewer felt personal fulfillment and love reciprocated or not. Connections snapped apart or locked into place, instantly and irrevocably. Did you choose life? Did you choose joy? Did you choose what your soul has been calling you to do? The event is not over. The eclipse’s energies will continue to play out over the next six months, so there’s still time to cast your lot with happiness and self-actualization.
Now we begin the less intense phase of follow through, dismantling and clearing out the detritus of the broken connections and stepping joyously into the new (or reclaimed) ones. Helpfully, there’s an abundance of masculine energy kicking in this week, as Mars, Mercury and the Sun all have meetings with Saturn. The cosmic teacher has been a steady Eddie in the middle degrees of Virgo all year long. He’s been keeping us on the ground while Jupiter, Neptune, Chiron and Uranus encourage us to fly high, and he’s been pulling us back up to the surface while Pluto does excavation work deep, deep below. Now that we’re though the pressurized changes of the eclipses, Saturn’s directing focus to matters on terra firma that require attention: obligations and commitments, consequences and ramifications, personal boundaries, and the mundane details of daily life.
These practicalities start the week, and we encounter and address them through Thursday. Mars squares Saturn on Monday and the impact delivers the incentive and rocket fuel to spur us to action, and how. Because the two planets are in Mercury-ruled signs, ideas, commitments and messages provide a playing field for this aspect. (Cars and transportation are possibly, too, so pay attention when you’re in transit.) You’ve been thinking about your life differently since the eclipses, and your new frame of mind hits a barrier to test — or empower — it. Details remain to be cleaned up and disposed of from your previous way and view of life. It’s time to start talking, reorganizing and taking concrete steps to act on your eclipse realizations and decisions. That includes unravelling unworkable commitments and locking new ones into place.
Implementing those realizations and decisions continues to occupy our thoughts and conversations. Talk about this grows serious as Mercury meets Saturn by declination on Wednesday. Issues don’t whoosh through and disappear with the wind; whatever comes up stays in the air into next week, when the pair will meet by zodiacal degree. We’re committing to ourselves and mentally embracing the new phase we have entered. The prolonged Mercury/Saturn meeting offers clarity, discrimination and the ability to think and speak dispassionately with maturity and responsibility — to yourself, first of all. Much can be put on the table, cleared up and negotiated with their help. Remember that Saturn in Virgo encourages tending to your own business, making choices that are healthy for you, and letting other people take care of their own reactions, agendas and business. Identify what your health and well-being requires and stick to it. Communicate it and discuss how you see that playing out, but don’t feel obliged to give explanations (truly, you don’t owe any), and don’t let someone talk you into giving up anything that’s crucial to your well-being. This aspect promotes solidifying and concretizing plans and intentions. Commitments start to take root. Conversations lay foundations. People talk about how they are going to make things work.
Mental shifts that help this process occur easily when the Sun makes a growth aspect to Saturn on Thursday. In the aftermath of the intensity the eclipses put us through, we are maturing quickly. We have awakened to a clear knowledge of what is in our best interests. Watch that knowledge make a lot of decisions effortless. If something doesn’t match that, we are no longer going to tangle with it in the faint hope that it might change into something closer to what we want. We are going to let it be. On the other hand, if something has a place in our lives and hearts, we are not interested in toying with it, or overthinking it, or playing push-me-pull-you games with it. As soon as we recognize it, we are going to embrace it, on the spot. Now that we have finally reached this point of commitment to and comfort with ourselves, you’ll find there’s no appeal in wasting time and energy.
The Aquarian triple conjunction continues to offer expansion in our connections to spirit and community, perspective and healing. Neptune and Uranus are conjunct by degree, though not exactly so. The link amps up their mutual reception (which exists because each planet is in the other’s home sign); they’re a team, sending off vibrations of liberation and transcendence that propel us into greater and greater personal development and growth. Insights and awakenings are part of the fabric of existence these days. We’re getting the hang of new guidance systems and trusting more and more the data and information that comes to us from non-rational, non-empirically verifiable sources. See what discoveries you make about yourself when the Sun contraparallels Jupiter on Tuesday, then opposes him on Friday. Are you holding yourself back — or in? How could you enlarge your definition of yourself? Go for it; the incentive is great. Between the Sun’s two contacts to Jupiter, Mars trines the gentle giant on Thursday. It’s easy to walk your talk and move forward on your dreams. Let your ambitions grow grander, and grander still. That won’t take much, if any, conscious effort. Once the planet of action contacts Jupiter, his supersizing properties will automatically increase any endeavor he touches.
Don’t apply brakes; let yourself fly as far, as freely and as exuberantly as you can.
You’re in no danger of flying out of control. Saturn’s got you on a long, long tether that keeps you connected to the ground. And don’t worry about being pulled into oblivion or delusion or unworkable fantasy. You’ll have the distance and perspective for a good long look at things when the Sun faces Neptune down by declination on Sunday and opposes him next week. Drop any lingering concern about what other people are thinking or doing. The big question for you is: What’s the quality of love in your life? Start with the love you give and allow yourself. Everything follows from that.
Monday: Dynamic tension fills the day as the Mars/Saturn square builds to completion mid-evening EDT. Any obstacle, any wall, any “no,” any complicating commitment or obligation is like the edge of the pool in a swimming race. Use it as something to push against and push off from, to speed your movement.
Tuesday: The air is happy, optimistic and teeming with possibilities, reflecting and supporting the new and improved you that’s coming out to play. Notice how in every situation you’re gravitating to the light (the sunlight, the spotlight, the higher Light). Give yourself credit for this. Then look at how much more you could immerse yourself in it. Let yourself bask and float this evening. The Moon is void of course from late afternoon (4:04 PM EDT) until after midnight (12:51 AM). The last aspect she makes is a sextile to Neptune, which invites you to disengage from the mundane world and dream, create and connect to spirit. Put paper and pen by your bed before turning in.
Wednesday: Check in with your heart on awakening. It was empowered during the night. Dreams and the subconscious zeroed in on where your deepest (and maybe darkest) desires intersect with your higher will, and you now have a laser focus on that point. Watch your thoughts and conversations get serious all day, too. No time for trivia; concentrate on details, practicalities, ramifications, consequences … and the steps you’ll be taking to implement this new phase of life.
Thursday: Treat yourself with the respect and responsibility that you’ve previously accorded to other people, and watch your self-esteem and comfort increase. Not only that, when you make personal well-being the base from which you operate, everything else takes care of itself. Fly high today. Go for your dreams and follow wherever they lead. There’s an open channel between Mars and Jupiter and anything can happen. Saying “yes” will propel you further than any push-off you made on Monday. Whatever you thought was possible in your life, let today shoot you out of preconceptions and into exhilaration.
Friday: A quiet day, with no aspects after the Sun opposes Jupiter around 2 PM EDT. The cosmos cordially invites you to mingle, shine and enjoy life. Let the full glory of yourself come out today and you’ll get a glimpse of who you really are. It’s happy-making.
Saturday: The aspects are a mixed bag. The morning’s easy-going air gives way to a snippy, pessimistic bent from afternoon into early evening EDT. Don’t take things personally. Buoyancy and good humor resurface come evening. Be sociable. Share yourself with people you enjoy. The energy ramps up and up happily as the evening goes on. Follow it, even if your normal pattern is to turn in early. Pencil and paper by the bed again, please.
Sunday: Stay up into the predawn hours EDT and a magical, romantic, inspirational time is yours until bar-closing time, when perspectives could shift in an instant. Sleep through it and enjoy cinematic dreams with gentle messages from your higher self, followed by some not-so-subtle lightning bolts of insight. Either way, make note of what’s in your consciousness as you awaken. (If you’re in the staying-out-late camp, sleep in a bit; the skies support it.) The day has few aspects, but they’re a jumbled mix of edginess and escapism, with the theme from “Jaws” underscoring mid-morning. It is appropriate to look at how honest you have been with yourself and others, but you don’t have to answer to or participate in anyone else’s drama. Check in with spirit and ask for guidance. Proceed with love and compassion, but not with martyrdom or sacrifice.
