Significant Planetary Aspects for:

The next chapter is beginning in earnest. Each of us has individually undergone a profound transformation over the summer. (Think back to who you were before the solstice — if you can remember that person! — and compare him/her to yourself now.) Now the circumstances of our lives start to actively give way and rearrange to fit our new selves. This means movement will start occurring in all those areas where you’ve been foreseeing, expecting or bracing for change, as well as in some that you have not been consciously considering. All the outer planets get into the act, so shifting will take place personally and collectively. Puzzles are being taken apart and put back together, and some of the pictures they’re forming will be quite different from the ones they’re replacing. Each lunge forward, each snapping apart and snapping into place will have widespread and long-term ramifications. Focus on the new pictures that are forming and stop analyzing, worrying about or trying to salvage the old ones. They are not coming back.

With all the attention that Jupiter, Neptune, Chiron and Uranus have been drawing for months, it’s been easy to lose sight of Saturn and Uranus’ five-part dance. That is coming back into view this week, though, and unmistakably so. Saturn and Uranus are moving into place on Wednesday for their third opposition, which will be exact on next week on the 15th. They’re entering 24 Virgo/Pisces, a semisextile away from Neptune at 24 Aquarius. And wherever Neptune goes these days, Jupiter and Chiron are also nearby. So as Saturn and Uranus take center stage again, they’re linking up with the dance that’s already in progress involving Jupiter, Neptune, Chiron and Uranus.

This puts a different spin on the working of the opposition. The basic impact is still the same. The Saturn/Uranus opposition, which is ongoing from last November through July of 2010, is shaking up and restructuring our personal and collective status quo. Each time the planet of structure faces down the planet of radical change, the tension challenges and tests structures, whether they’re thoughts, attitudes, situations or institutions. Teetering ones fall or splinter apart; cracks widen and destabilize others. In a multi-stage process like this one, the old order often rears up and fights back. Since Saturn is newly energized by his direct motion and progress, finally, into the last degrees of Virgo, there may be backwash or retaliatory strikes against changes that cracked into being during the previous two oppositions (which were exact February 5 and November 4, election day). Let any backwash come from others; don’t you be the one to cling to or insist on the old paradigm. The momentum is definitely heading for the future, though, and that’s where the link to the planets in Aquarius and Pisces comes in.

This opposition is graced — and graced is the most appropriate word — by the perspective, compassion, wisdom and insight the skies have been cultivating in us since spring. Our viewpoint has evolved since Saturn and Uranus began their dance last year, and so our experience of this installment is going to be different. We have learned not only to see the bigger picture but to bring a higher perspective down into our mundane existence. We have the vision and the ability to experience heaven on earth, in the here and now. We have opened to receiving information from sources other than our physical senses and also to go with the intangible info whether it’s backed by mundane corroboration or not. We are increasingly aware of the extent of our allies and kindred spirits, too, in the mutually supportive and appreciative webs and communities that surround us (in person, online, in spirit). We have also, courtesy of the year’s eclipses (and the New Moons that sandwiched the summer’s eclipses) recognized and committed ourselves to our own nurturance and security. All of these developments inform and shape our experience of the opposition this time around.

As the Saturn/Uranus opposition snaps onto these new paradigms, watch it stress beliefs, attitudes and situations that we have evolved beyond. In many instances we are already emotionally ready for whatever cracks and falls apart now (which may just as easily occur in thought forms as in what passes for physical reality). In some instances, cracks will occur ahead of our personal schedule. Even if we feel hurried, even if we’re caught by surprise, we have now have at our disposal the broadened perspective to see the bigger picture and benefit in everything that happens. And if that’s not automatically visible to you, remind yourself that a force of Love is behind all the rumblings, splinterings and topplings and reconsider events from that point of view. Or simply ask to be shown another way to look at the events, and the more expansive view will come into your consciousness. The understanding may take a day or two to trickle in, but it will come.

Now, as the opposition locks into the Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron/Uranus dance, some mightily confused and confusing thinking could slip in. Jupiter and Neptune’s involvement has the potential for mushrooming crazy talk, lies, fantasies and PR spin. Probe the source of anything strange that you hear or witness or observe bubbling up from your own depths. Is fear at the root? Saturn does not want his creations to be destroyed, and he could invite Jupiter/Neptune to precipitate some desperate defensive maneuvers. Fear, lack, scarcity, desperation, clinging at any cost — all are signs of Jupiter and Neptune working in a lower gear. If, on the other hand, you detect Love or compassionate at the route….embrace it.

The stress of the building opposition will increase as it moves toward its peak on the 15th, and likely it will feel strongest this week. Open your heart to change — Jupiter and company should make that easy to do — and trust that what is transpiring under it is preparing the way for the future. We’re at the half-way point in the process of Saturn and Uranus’ process. Look at how radically your inner and outer lives have changed since last fall. The pre-opposition world already feels like ancient history, doesn’t it? This third pass of the opposition is the pivot point in the ongoing process. As it’s moving into position, Pluto, the other cosmic change agent, is going direct, on Friday. Pluto has traveled back to the doorway of his new Capricorn home, and he’s ready now to begin renovation, remodeling and reconstruction in earnest. The Saturn/Uranus opposition shakes the walls and foundations; Pluto rips through foundations to expose rot and deterioration. The surface and subsurface are being worked over simultaneously, and the transformative impact will be profound. Nothing that has been cracked, broken open, knocked down or otherwise struck by Uranian lightning or collapsed from Pluto’s excavation will ever return to its previous form. The old order can kick and scream and bully, but it’s not going to succeed in turning back the clock. Our worlds are reshaping into their new forms for the long haul.

We’ll have ample opportunity to revisit the messages, insights and events of this week and next. Mercury is retrograding out of Libra and will cross this territory again in the middle of October, after he has dipped back into Virgo and gone direct. He will cross the degree of this month’s Saturn/Uranus opposition on September 22 and 23 and again on October 4 and 5. Expect to learn more and hash out details then connected to this third strike of the Saturn/Uranus opposition.

Monday: It’s a quiet, light-hearted day. If your agenda contains items that you’d like or feel you need to get done this week, put effort into them. The skies are taking a hands-off approach for the moment, so you can progress easily and without interruption. Plenty will come your way later, so enjoy today’s respite. You’ll know when the time is right to change course and let fresh air blow through.

Tuesday: Venus in Leo hates to be ignored, and she wants attention now. Agitation between Venus and Pluto colors the day. A relationship, a money issue or just plain desire churns and churns, and what’s stirring the pot is hard to quiet. It likely involves some combination of primal attraction, compulsion, lust to possess or control, terror or triangulation. The stakes are high, and the matter is close to the heart. The point of the agitation is awareness. You may not yet be able to resolve the situation, but you definitely can’t ignore it or put it back into hiding.

Wednesday: It’s a “life’s short so eat dessert first” kind of day, with a sociable air that encourages going for instant gratification. There are undercurrents, though. Don’t let doubt and second-guessing cloud your actions. Your brain may want more tangible data before allowing you to move forward, or it might be interpreting what little data there is in the least favorable light. Your own guidance knows what is right and true. Check in with it. The growing tension shows you what areas of your life are up for reconstruction as Saturn and Uranus begin their final approach to next Tuesday’s exact opposition.

Thursday: Ease into the day. The Moon is void of course from the wee hours until just after noon EDT. Her last aspect before the void is a sextile to Uranus. A light will go on in the dream world, so note what’s going through your mind as you wipe the sleep from your eyes. After the void, the atmosphere is still and uncluttered, with but a handful of aspects and only one of them major. Little distracts from the changes that are shaping up on the surface and below. They don’t have to involve high drama, pain, recriminations or any negativity whatsoever (unless you cling to something that is collapsing). The changes are beneficial all around. Lead with your heart this evening and you will see the truth of this.

Friday: Take note of your early morning thoughts again. Venus and the Sun both contact Jupiter during the night. Your subconscious explores bigger, broader horizons in your social and financial affairs, and you may well make a choice for the new path. There’s no need to rush into implementing. Pluto goes direct midday, and the bulk of the waking day in North America has no aspects whatsoever. It’s a good day to clean out your desks, closets and thinking. Bag the garbage and put it out for pickup. If the evening’s easy air encourages you to stay up late, you’re unlikely to do it alone.

Saturday: If you aren’t impetuously conversing into the wee hours, sharing will be occurring in your dreams. Be conscious of your feelings and thoughts on waking; they contain clues about responsibilities you are ready to face and shifts that need to occur, whether your heart is ready or not. Once daylight comes, it’s not time yet to push anything forward. We’re still assimilating Pluto’s change of direction. Helping out that process is another long void, from 7:31 AM to 4:20 PM. The Moon’s last aspect before the void is a square to Uranus, which gives the entire day to float in whatever insight and change that contact demands. The aftermath is not gentle, as it was on Friday. Her first aspect, an opposition to Pluto, drives home the enormity of what you’re facing. You’re in an either-or situation, and the time to choose follows quickly. Are you choosing the old way or the future? Responsibilities and commitment (to yourself, please) or a fantasy? The one certainty is that the situation that’s coming up can not and will not go on as it was.

Sunday: The respite we need yesterday comes today. The only major aspect, at midday, is energizing and motivating. Do something physical, all the better if it involves nurturing and your home. Cleaning up your kitchen would fit the bill on all counts. Putter around the home; buy groceries; cook up a storm. You might not have the time or inclination while navigating the intensity of next week.
