How was last week for you? Your experience then hints at what’s to come. Neptune was the center of attention then; now his home base of soul-stirring, boundary-blurring Pisces dominates the skies. The week starts with three planets and the Moon in this most ethereal of signs, and the Sun joins the party Thursday, long after the Moon has scooted along down the zodiac. The atmosphere is much as it was last week, when the Sun, the Moon and Venus all crossed Pisces’ ruler Neptune, and the New Moon took place within his diffused, and sometimes confusing, influence. (Read last week’s weather, accessible from the archives link at the bottom of the page, for an exhaustive look at the dynamic that is still with us.) It may feel like Valentine’s Day is still going on, or it may feel as if everyone’s walking around in a fog. Or both.
The qualities of Pisces and Neptune are intangible, perceivable by the invisible eye or the heart but not something you can grasp with your hand or your mind. The zodiac’s final sign is the place where we meld and commune with all existence, from the energy of everyone around us to muses and inspiration to the highest reaches of spirit and the divine. The inclusivity and sensitivity of this sign makes it hard to tell where one person stops and other beings start, which can lead to a blissful ego dissolution or, at the other extreme, viewing everything as an extension of the self. (Pisces has the biggest ego in the zodiac, Houston astrologer Lilly Roddy once said to me, because it thinks everything is part of it.) The innate awareness of our interconnectedness is the source of some of the sign’s finest qualities: kindness, compassion, empathy, forgiveness, spiritual love, a willingness to put others first. All of these have been especially easy to access in the past week, with the multiple conjunctions to Neptune, and continue to surround us now.
The peak moment occurs when Venus, the ruler of earthly love and all we value, meets Jupiter, the planet of expansion, indulgence and good vibes, in the sign of Pisces on Tuesday. (They join by declination on Thursday, which extends the impact of their meeting across the center of the week.) Their union promises more of what we have been enjoying for the past week. Think through the symbolism: The goddess of love is embracing the guy who likes to up the action, in the sign of higher love and inspiration. If nothing else, our sense of connection should swell, and there should be an epidemic of people treating each other extremely decently and generous-heartedly. Probably much more will happen as well. If you’ve been wanting to build bridges to certain people, or move a particular interaction into something more meaningful, overtures are likely to be met with open arms. Venus and Jupiter are about the most supportive team you could want for relationship growth and expansion. (The same is true for artistic endeavors and finances, too, particularly if you’ve living in keeping with your values.)
Pisces has a touch of magic to it. Open your heart, let it lead and you may well end up in some starry-eyed, odds-defying situations. And don’t be shy about asking. Jupiter is the cosmic symbol of generosity. He likes to give and reward, just as his host Neptune is inclined to answer prayers. So ask for the quality of what you want (the specific is less important, as least as far as your mortal ego defines it) and be open to receiving. Walk into situations with the expectation that everything is unfolding for the highest good of all, and watch how smoothly they do. Position your intent and actions at the higher end of Piscean possibilities, too. What you send out will directly lead to what you experience. Smiles will beget smiles. Loving kindness will be rewarded with more of the same. Love will be returned, not in spades, but in hearts.
Monday: What is rumbling through your mind as the day starts? During the night, the two planets of desire reached out to each other and made you an offer. Are you clearer on your bottom line? A way has opened up for you to get more of something you value. The opening may have happened only in your consciousness so far, but that’s a first step. As the day progresses, a way to walk through and implement that opening arises. Power struggles will block the way. Lead with your heart and let your mind, willpower and actions follow.
Tuesday: Don’t be overly attached to what you think needs to happen just now. For one thing, the Moon is void of course the entire working day, from 9:33 AM to 7:31 PM EST. For another, Moon/Uranus contacts shake up the morning. They pack a one-two wallop, with unexpected developments shooting you this way, then that. Have fun with it, and by all means fly with the twists and turns. They’re leading to a very pleasant destination. Venus is gliding into a slow dance with beneficent Jupiter, which peaks before bedtime EST. This pairing could birth a die-happy moment, with such perfect beauty and enjoyment that you could leave this existence smiling. It’s a day of good vibrations and excitations, setting off a golden glow in hearts, relationships and bank accounts.
Wednesday: One of the more uncomfortable aspects of the week, friction between Mercury and Uranus, occurs when many of us are sleeping or nearing bed (just after midnight EST). Lower mind and higher mind are working something out overnight, and our emotions go from stabilizing the concept to facing external opposition to cutting it down to what we absolutely have to have. Keep your heart open, joyous and optimistic. Venus and Jupiter are separating but still close enough to touch, and they’ll meet again by declination overnight. Their anything’s-possible vibes are still very much with us. Embrace them.
Thursday: The Venus/Jupiter love-fest continues by declination, then takes on a more heated edge as the Sun and the Moon face off on the ecliptic as well. You’re wanting something as you awaken; what is it? Longing and connecting are themes of the day, as the Sun begins his annual visit to all-encompassing Pisces. Early afternoon, hearts are more at the yearning end of the spectrum. By late night, an atmosphere arises for relaxing into peace and calm and connection.
Friday: In case we were thinking we’ve drifted off into a magical world of happily ever after, edginess returns to remind us that life is a process, not a destination. (Sigh.) You don’t have to participate or even be touched by outbursts and arguments, even if they occur around you, as they likely will. A series of contacts to Pluto have us grappling with deep and tenacious emotions and motivations. Keep your priorities in mind and you’ll perceive important and empowering nuggets in those murky, swirling waters.
Saturday: Edginess continues. If you find yourself bumping heads with someone, trace the tension back to yourself. Are you chafing because of the way you’re looking at a situation? Because you feel constricted or overburdened? Because you’re in an internal war? The events of the day land you at a crossroad mid-evening. Ego, frustration or thwarted ambition could drive your decision. If one option helps you reclaim a piece of yourself or rekindle a spark (whether creative, romantic, life-affirming), that route will lead to a more enjoyable path.
Sunday: Befitting the traditional day of rest, this Sunday is not wired for high productivity and running around, at least not until later in the afternoon. The Moon is void of course all morning and into early afternoon EST, after pushing off from Neptune and sending us into a soft, gentle fog. Stay aware of that fog if tempers flare mid-morning. Perceptions could be off; situations could not be quite what they seem. The day, the weekend and the week culminate in another crossroad moment come evening. Responsibility and commitment are issues. The question is: responsibility and commitment to whom or what? Consider this choice carefully. If the answer is not to yourself, the next steps could bring obligations that will feel like burdens, because they will not be true to you.
