Weekly Weather Report

Significant Planetary Aspects for:

Valentine’s Day is fading into history, but hearts remain very much at center stage. Our own heart, to be specific. Each of us is having belts and buckles and locks and chains removed from our heart, many of which we had no idea were binding us. Seemingly out of the blue ruptures have been occurring, especially in situations that we had considered to be chugging along just fine — and some of which had felt, until the moment of rupture, special and treasured and maybe even the answer to our heart’s desire. The dynamic is still going on, with Venus meeting Uranus this week and simultaneously making a growth aspect to Neptune and Chiron. Constrictions are breaking loose, hearts are growing a couple of sizes bigger, just like what happened to the Grinch, and everyone is ending up healthier, more intact and freed to pursue their own path without taking on other people’s burdens. Or at least, everyone has this opportunity. Some people will not recognize or accept that they have been freed, of course, but will continue within the confines of their personal metaphoric prisons and hells. That’s a choice, but don’t fret. A conscious person will have to actively slide back into that to miss the wonders of this week’s gifts from the sky.

Let’s talk about those moments of rupture. Take one of the big relationship shifts that’s happened to you lately and move your vantage point out from the details of the surface events. Whether you can think of a relationship shift or not, keep the following in mind and apply it when one occurs this week. Look at the shift from the level of metaphor or symbol, or imagine that you are floating in the sky viewing it from above. When you get out from the middle of it, several aspects become clear. First, you can see how much of your emotional energy was flowing into this situation before the rupture, energy that could have been fueling your own heart. Which leads to the second aspect: You can see to what extent you were investing in and propping up a person or situation or cause that was really someone else’s responsibility, turf, issue, business, even karmic lesson. You might also see that what you were getting out of the previous arrangement was a crutch, shield, block, excuse or protection, probably unconscious, for your own heart. Look at the rupture as a cosmic gift returning your energy back to you, so you can use it for your emotional nourishment, the pursuit of your own passions and the feeding of the close relationships that support and treasure who you really are. (Interestingly, a lot of the ruptures I’ve been observing are making room for a new mate relationship, in some cases by removing or restructuring connections that people had no idea were getting in the way.) From here, consider the rupture as a developmental step in your emotional evolution. How was this a replay? What long-standing issue did this reprise? How are you handling it differently this time around? How have you healed?

Here’s one more big-picture factor to consider. How are women involved? More specifically, what does this latest event say about the evolution of your view of women? Watch the feminine archetypes at work in your life and in the news this week. Don’t be surprised if you witness (or get hit by) old expressions of feminine energy fighting for their lives. If a really unpleasant one surfaces, do not buy into its rage or insanity — and with retrograde Mars making an out of sign trine to this conjunction, blind, brain-disabling fury could be on the warpath. What you’ll really be witnessing is abject terror — the terror of a queen bee who spots a woman that could best or bust her, of a matriarch sensing the fading of her power and vitality, of a narcissistic mother who lashes out at evidence that she has abandoned a responsibility to someone in her care, of an insecure woman who views other females as rivals to be minimized and filters their actions through her own criticism of herself. Look for signs of terror (eyes are a giveaway; so is tyrannical behavior) and use it to find a response that is compassionate to all. If this kind of archetype roars up before you, it’s not your job to tell her off or beat her at her own game. (You will feel physically wretched if you try, and you may feel that way anyway just from weathering the encounter.) What’s important is behaving in a manner that is different and healthier than what you used to do. Not taking it personally might be one big step; removing yourself from her presence or life might be another. (And maybe, just maybe, she’s doing you the backhanded favor of forcing you out of a situation for your ultimate benefit.) Be on the lookout, too, for expressions of feminine energy that are healing and supportive, particularly in ways that reflect your growth. If Angry Mom goes for your jugular — let’s face it; mother issues are a common way of personalizing our relationship to the feminine — it just might be that Loving Mom is nearby, too, offering comfort and support and validation of who you are.

With Venus closing in on Uranus, we’re bringing our relationships and more into alignment with all the innovation, healing, enlightenment and connection to spirit of last year’s traveling party in Aquarius and Pisces (the long-lived triple conjunction of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron, semisextile to Uranus). Not just relationships are getting the benefit of the lessons and gifts of that nearly year-long transit; issues of self-worth, values, money and personal resources are also being affected. The middle of the week will be a storm of lightning, insight, sudden changes, breaking apart, gasps of recognition and marvelous new connections and new chapters in existing ones. Every shift, rupture, aha!, twist and turn breaks us loose from trappings that are no longer right for us and frees our hearts and bank accounts for future, positive growth. We’re lightening our loads and shedding details of our lives that do not support and nourish our hearts and passions. With Venus and Uranus at the end of all-connected Pisces, there could also be an element of release from sacrifice or martyrdom and, to give fair warning, sorrow and tears as well.

Two planets change signs this week, too. Mercury leaves lightning-quick Aquarius on Monday and dives into the bottomless waters of Pisces. Bodies, minds and messages are vibrating with energy and information from all around. Some of it might become garbled or hard to make out, as happens to sound when it is transmitted through water. The heightening of this sense of connectedness will make it possible to pick up information without overly much effort, so ask for guidance or simply be open to answers. At the end of the week, Venus leaves her sweet, gentle Pisces base and shifts into huntress mode. As she enters Aries, she is greeted immediately by Mars, who makes a cooperative, passion-igniting link. Venus in Aries will help us spot the target, whatever it is, and go for it without hesitation. Her first pounces will be fun. Venus in Aries trining Mars in Leo will kindle our spark and creativity and, for some, romance. The heart will know in an instant what it wants and leap, the mere act of which will inspire our will and bodies to dash into the fray and join in the game.

Monday: Mercury enters Pisces. Thinking becomes less concrete and more abstract, conceptual and universal; everyone becomes more susceptible to the vibrations around them, whether aware of them or not. Sharp Moon/Uranus contacts disrupt the morning’s quiet and force changes in plans (short and long term). The Moon is void of course from midday into the evening EST. All day long, gung-ho approaches to work and the focus of any meetings drift into formlessness and thought processes that are closer to contemplation or confusion than clear analysis. Within the void, Mercury, the planet of communication hits a choice point with warrior god Mars, who is stomping into the rawest moments of his progress-impeding retrograde. Bullies abound. You don’t have to be one, play by their rules or respond at their level. Remember that the planet of communication is swimming in the sea of compassion and universal love. Tap into that.

Tuesday: Issues of power, responsibility, obligations and commitment swirl through the dreamtime. Our minds are communing with transcendent inspiration and divine guidance. Some of that union will still be filtering into consciousness as you wake up, so take note of the gentle nudges and urges that come to you this morning. They are whisperings of your soul. Following them to could lead to places and situations that are more beneficial to you than they may appear at first. Late evening, Mercury hits another choice point, this time with Saturn, the teacher, the elder, the keeper and enforcer of the rule book. If you hit a block, think about what’s behind it. Which direction fits or furthers your commitment and responsibility to yourself? You know what to do.

Wednesday: More messages from the soul come through the dreamtime. It may be hard to shake them loose and jump into the day. The pace will get going soon enough, though, so enjoy the gentle lead-in. Electricity fills the air as Venus’ late-night meeting builds, setting off startling encounters, discoveries, messages, insights and changes of course and plans. The excitement of their approach will feel a bit like lightning shooting through fog once the Moon goes void of course mid-afternoon (after trining Neptune) until mid-evening EST. Proceed with an open mind and open heart, and leave your hands outstretched if anything is yanked from your grasp. There’s no telling what might fall into them.

Thursday: Overnight, your heart develops the resolve and strength to speak your truth. The opportunity quickly arises to put this into action. Be conscious of the tenor of your words today, and see if they aren’t more confident, assured and quietly powerful. Meanwhile, electricity is still in the air as Venus prepares for another tryst with Uranus, this one just after midnight EST on the ecliptic. Wild cards are being played everywhere; an attitude of openness yields the most beneficial results. A choice point comes in the evening in a relationship, a monetary arrangement or a situation involving something you value. One path more obviously reflects or leads to self-love and worth. Ahem.

Friday: The air is vibrating from the last two days of Venus/Uranus shake-ups. There are no major aspects to interfere with them during the daylight hours EST. By the evening, our hearts are embracing the changes and hungry for the new. Easy does it. Late night, assertiveness could flip into aggression as Mars argues for overboard actions.

Saturday: The skies are relatively quiet today. The Moon is in agreement with Mars and Saturn, which makes for an active and productive start. Watch for edginess as evening grows. Conversations don’t have to be arguments, and the fact that you have a different view than another person doesn’t have to mean that one of you is wrong. Temper relationship expectations. A backlash to Wednesday and Thursday’s freedom fest may surface (in undercurrents, if not outright on the surface). If you’re feeling held back, weighed down, impeded or invalidated, what does the feeling lead to in yourself? Are you agreeing to something that isn’t right for you? Are you being tested on what’s truly important to you?

Sunday: Venus enters Aries bright and early in the Western Hemisphere, and she and Mars are off and running. With the happiness of Mercury meeting Jupiter as well, today promises to be lively, energetic, heart-driven and fun. Follow your heart and watch your mind, body and will join in unfailingly and enthusiastically. Everybody’s getting along, at least for the moment. Enjoy it!
