Have you been feeling like a rubber band being stretched apart? That tension begins to subside this week. After Monday evening, we’re on the far side of the next-to-last Saturn/Uranus opposition. This doesn’t end the process of revolution (sorry!), but it does lessen the crazy-making quality of the instability we’ve been experiencing.
This most recent round of the this life-structuring opposition, the last on the Virgo/Pisces axis, has been pulling every one of us in two directions. New possibilities — some from absolutely unexpected or unforeseeable quarters — have been blowing open in one area of life, while obligations and authorities have been bearing down in another. Odds are you’ve been cutting back, changing, adopting new approaches in one area, yet got treated to surprises last week that either they weren’t enough or other areas remain to be addressed. It’s not that the universe or your inner saboteur is out to get you. There is simply more to clean up, rearrange and organize in your metaphoric garden, and last week’s ow-ies showed you where. This is the time to do it, while Saturn has returned to Virgo and highlighted business that remains from September 2007 – October 2009. We’ve got another five weeks of review work, until Saturn goes direct at the end of May, and then six weeks of finishing touches, until he leaves Virgo near the end of July. Use this time. Every inconvenient detail that tapped you on the shoulder recently is actually doing you a favor. Each of us is about to embark on an exciting and highly individual adventure this summer. There will not be time to look down and make sure your shoes are tied, doublecheck your bags for supplies or think about the systems you’ve set up to keep your household and life running. Straighten all that up now.
Don’t rush; don’t hurry (or worry); don’t panic. Immerse yourself in whatever you feel the urge to do or address, moment by moment. The Mercury retrograde in Taurus is facilitating the step-by-step thoroughness that Saturn in Virgo wants. Time can open up into a seeming eternity when you drop yourself into an experience. That’s been happening for a lot of us, by choice or invitation or force of hand. I said last week that this transit was going to bring communication and travel to the ground, and that happened literally, when volcanic ash caused airports to close all over Europe while Mercury was stationary. Travelers, vehicles and commerce were forced into a standstill that’s only slowly breaking apart. Somewhere in your own life, there’s a parallel. Either projecting into the future has been blocked, or you simply haven’t been inclined to do it. We’re being called to look no further ahead than the here and now. Taking life one day at a time is too future-oriented, as I see it; sometimes even one hour at a time is too far ahead.
The call to action will come soon enough. Wednesday’s Scorpio Full Moon, with retrograde Mercury next to the Sun, delivers information, messages, thoughts and waves of emotions about our possessions and resources, individual and joint. It’s a jumble of relationship and money developments, desires, cravings, power games, temptations and compulsions, running the gamut from simple declarations of “I want!!!” to complicated and dangerous liaisons. There are big questions of what’s in my pile and what’s in ours, of what value am I getting from the love/money/energy I’m investing in you/us or entrusted to you (personally or institutionally). With Venus and Pluto ruling the Sun and the Moon, retrograde Mercury’s penchant for summoning people from the past could summon former objects of desire, human and otherwise, some of which may still carry a surprisingly hard-to-resist allure. Pluto’s easy contacts to both the Sun and the Moon could make big breaks extremely easy — the question will be, breaks from the past attraction, or breaks from a current relationship?
Whatever people and information come to light under this Full Moon, we aren’t likely to be sitting around long wondering what to do with them or it. Mars is finally picking up momentum after a three month retrograde through the first half of Leo. Not only is the planetary embodiment of our personal drive motivating and igniting us, but he is also is smack in the middle of the tension of the Full Moon. And when push comes to shove, he’s what’s going to move. Plafulness, passion, risk-taking, drama, romance, creative self-expression and a grab for the spotlight are all possible. Have fun! Monday: Emotions are activated throughout the daylight hours by a handful of Moon aspects that invite choices, movement and a wee bit of nervousness. The penultimate showdown of the Saturn/Uranus opposition is also making itself felt. The tension may actually lessen as the opposition builds to completion mid-evening, but the day is still one long reminder of where your life would benefit from some structural changes.
Tuesday: The day is relatively quiet, apart from an erratic or schedule-disrupting jiggle late afternoon. The Moon is void of course from 3:46 PM to 6:30 PM EDT, after a trine to inspirational Neptune. There’s no reason not to get a head start on the gentleness of the void. Go slowly and ponder all day long. A lot has been rattled in the last week or so. Sit with everything. Since the Full Moon’s building, plenty more to consider should surface as the evening goes on.
Wednesday: The Full Moon comes early, at 8:20 AM EDT, on the heels of two overnight contacts between the Moon and her current ruler, Pluto. We awaken changed and geared for more. Big, important, emotional information is the order of the morning. Unlike yesterday, there’s every reason not to sit quietly, but instead to think, process, talk, address, confront, deal and above all get moving. Watch for crystal-clarity about your personal bottom line, backed up by an absolute dedication to it (and refusal to compromise).
Thursday: Choices, choices, choices. It’s a day of desires, spelled with both a lower and upper case “d,” and the day will soon show that you can’t have everything. The crossroads you’re facing first thing in the morning may have a strong air of fatedness to it. The choice point is like the ancient depiction of the Lovers card in the Tarot, in which a man had to choose between two women. Will it be the socially acceptable but boring one? Or the ever-so desirable one that flaunts convention? Whatever you choose, you are likely to both be confident and assured in your choice and less than quiet about it. An evening void Moon steers us into a weekend atmosphere, a day in advance. She pushes easily off Uranus into the void, which will tingle with unconventional and daring possibilities — perhaps the very ones you embraced earlier today.
Friday: The atmosphere bristles with excitement and talk. Gossip’s flowing, if that’s the sort of information channel that appeals to you. Staying on task is a ridiculous challenge; don’t be surprised if you stop kidding yourself about getting solid work done today — though you should go far with information gathering, if that’s needed. Pick up the phone; find out what your friends have been choosing this week; go from office to office (or cubicle to cubicle) checking in with folks. If you find yourself chatting by voice or keyboard with someone who stimulates your mind, you’re making appropriate use of the energy. Carry the socializing impulse into the evening. You’re not likely to want to be alone, or sit still.
Saturday: Happy May Day! We are treated to a quiet, quiet day. There are only three aspects, and only one of them is major, a Moon/Jupiter square late afternoon. That will fuel any impulse toward self-indulgence, in food or drink or holding forth. Yesterday’s chatterbox vibe continues into early afternoon, when it could mutate into Freudian slips and foot-in-mouth disease. (Get that in check before the Moon/Jupiter square encourages you to say more than you should.) Restlessness grows as darkness settles in. Perhaps a mental review of the week is in order? Put paper and pencil by the bedside, too.
Sunday: The dreamtime is one huge cavalcade of personal growth, full of inspiration and guidance, scenarios of tough love and explosions of insight and liberation. Sit with the mess of fragments running through your head as you open your eyes. Write them down as best you can remember, without editing, and see if they don’t sketch a pattern, even if you can’t make out or trust it entirely. The day unfolds into a sober and grounding process of finding stability and security within. This intensifies into mid-afternoon, when the Moon meets Pluto and trines Mercury. We know our hearts; we speak them easily, unapologetically and powerfully. If any part of what we’ve embraced or chosen is illusory, a reality check comes early evening, with the chance for course correction.
