How are you doing after last week’s excitement? Are you ready for more? Yes? No? Ready or not, here it comes. Everything and everyone is breaking out of the shell of life as it was and erupting into life as it is going to be.
It’s an enormous and dramatic time of rebirth and the new — directions, goals, agendas, motivations, methods, company and, above all, perspectives. No one has been exempt from the tumult. Everyone’s life has been a jumble of extremes lately, a wacky mix of payoffs and kiss offs, wild cards, explosions, serendipity, chaos and excitement. Even so, the activity with the lasting importance has occurred within. How has your attitude changed in just the last week? Significantly, if you are honest with yourself. Until recently, you’ve been in a rut for so long that it was feeling like the outer contours of your world. You could daydream and even tell yourself that you were going to break through them some day but how exactly you were going to do that was not clear at all. Now you’re bursting with hope, optimism, incredible drive and passion and the thought that maybe, just maybe, life is finally different. It is. You’ve already seen amazing, astonishing, exhilarating evidence. You’re in a new game in a new world, the world you’ve been preparing for over the last few years.
This world is still in its dawning moments. Exploration is just beginning, and more eruptions are on the way to usher it in. This week promises a string of them. (That analogy make you nervous? How about a roller coaster heading up to a series of bigger and bigger peaks and a sharp plunge or two. Not happy with that one, either? Just breathe.) Jupiter, the planet that escalates any influence it touches, continues to push against Uranus all week long and finally catches up with the planet of change a couple of hours after midnight EDT next Monday morning. The pressure we were feeling and experiencing and observing last week is going to continue to build. This time, instead of the pressure giving way to waves of emotion, it unleashes action in and around each of us. We’ll be feeling it all week, and how, even though the aspect isn’t exact till the beginning of next week.
The Jupiter/Uranus pyrotechnics are happening at a very sensitive spot — 0 Aries, the first degree of the zodiac. This degree is on the World Axis, which means that events that occur here affect everyone, individually and as nations, societies and the globe. The air is crackling with electricity, fieriness and volatility, and there’s no place to hide from any of it. Some of it is going to be angry, some impassioned, some out-of-the-blue and incredibly motivating. Remember what happens in the movie Network, when the TV reporter tells his audience to open the window and yell, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this any more?” Watch for an outbreak of reenactments of the scene that follows. Outbursts are going to be very public or have widespread impact — protests, temper tantrums, blows for freedom and autonomy, military and police strikes and explosions and eruptions. There will be daredevil feats and bold rescues; this is the sort of energy that prompts people to run into burning buildings and not think about the danger until they’ve pulled trapped people and pets from the flames. We are all breaking out of timid or restrained behaviors and leaping boldly into the fray, whatever it may be. We are all waking up from a long, long slumber — sleepwalking, if you will — and being galvanized to action. Not only action, but impulsive action. Each trigger, each impetus, each eruption is going to allow little to no time for mulling things over, but will provoke or demand an immediate response. This is why the slowness and the groundwork of the first part of the year was so critical. If you do find yourself with down time this week, please, please lie fallow for a bit and allow yourself to reset. In the stillness that you find, even if it is only a few minutes long, remind yourself of your priorities. Keeping sight of them will aim your leaps when your rest time is over. Reconsider what you’ve done recently, too. Are you leaping into actions that further or support your priorities? If no, can you leap out or into a different direction?
One more suggestion for navigating this week consciously: Don’t worry much about what the other people in your life are doing. We are in free-agent mode. You don’t hold the reins on anyone else, and no one holds the reins on you (unless you let them). Leave everyone alone to handle their own business, make their own choices and leap in their own directions. Pay attention to your own passions. This is the summer of rebirth, first and foremost of the individual. Follow your heart and the right people and situations will be heading in the same direction or toward a common meeting place, even if your pace is not the same. If you break loose from someone or something that you didn’t expect, and if you are following your passions and intuition, do not go running after them. If you start exploding in anger, use it as rocket fuel to move forward, not as napalm to strafe another living being. If someone lobs a fireball at you, think about what you have done or, more importantly, believed that invited the attack. Take responsibility for your part, then move on. We’re being propelled into the situations and structures that will replace the ones that have been destabilized and dismantled over the past 18 months by the ongoing Saturn/Uranus opposition. We are also staking out the turf where changes are still to come, and where the new world will be built, during the t-square and grand cross that will form in the cardinal signs over the course of the summer.
With all this turmoil, it may be easy to miss the two retrogrades that start this week. Neptune stations retrograde on Monday. Until he turns direct the first week of November, he will be holding down tension in the late degrees, while the other outer planets activate the first degrees of the cardinal axis. Uranus and then Jupiter will ultimately slip back into the late degrees themselves for some clean-up work. For now, Neptune is reminding us of our connectedness to each other and to spirit. He will also be giving off clouds of confusion, illusion, inspiration and escapism. Neptune is nothing you can grab and hold, so he will be taking the edge off (or obscuring) the excitement that’s breaking out everywhere. Chiron is stationing retrograde as well. He will spend another six weeks hanging out at 0 Pisces, allowing us to soak in our communal wounds, boundary issues and the illusion of separation, before he rejoins Neptune at the end of Aquarius. Chiron entered Pisces in April, at the time of the oil rig explosion that is still gushing into the Gulf. That wound to the sea isn’t going away anytime soon, as the next six weeks will show.
Monday: Neptune goes retrograde after stirring things up with Venus. Desire is an issue; so is clarity of perception. For some people, the question will be whether earthly desires are in alignment with personal spiritual truths. For others, fantasies are shaken, threatened or spun. Views of relationships may grow cloudy and uneasy; money matters may be unsettling. Everything is easier to grasp later in the day. The Moon makes the rounds of all the planets in the late degrees, grounding us in our own internal security, opening the doorway to higher guidance and offering hope, optimism and good humor. it’s valuable processing time; use it.
Tuesday: There are no major daytime aspects today, but some noteworthy activity is on tap all the same. Take note of messages and information that fly to and from you, and see if you don’t feel compelled to get up from your desk and move around — a lot. Mercury and Mars are meeting by declination. We’ll all be walking our talk in some way. Mental energy will run high. Ideas will lead to action. Time delays and filters are out of commission for the moment, so words could get heated very quickly. The better use is funneling energy into thinking and talking things through. No procrastinating: Pick up the phone. Answer email. Make contact.
Wednesday: There’s a saying that my right to swing my arm ends where my hand hits your nose. It applies today. We see how well our individual pursuit of our personal agendas is coexisting with the people in our lives. Don’t worry much about contacting someone’s nose (or feeling a hand slam into you). We’ve all been evolving and adapting, and the interpersonal dance is changing as a result. You can maintain your individuality without crowding or hurting someone else or denying him the right to be himself. An interaction today is seemingly effortless that would have been a struggle, a stretch or grounds for a fight a year ago.
Thursday: The day starts with the the agitator on. Mercury and Pluto are shaking things up. Thoughts are tenacious and unnerving; so watch obsessing and circling around the same concept again and again and again. That’s going to be a challenge, since some bits of information involve topics that are hard to take in stride. Secrets may get dislodged; fears of secrets and hidden shenanigans may as well. Remember what happened to Othello (and more importantly, to poor Desdemona) — a message may be a power ploy, carefully placed to trigger deep fears and hook you into a particular, instinctive reaction. The morning’s longish void (10:56 AM – 1:34 PM EDT), a rarity these days, offers the time and space to float, reconnect to spirit and gain perspective. Plug in then and you’ll better navigate tomorrow.
Friday: The major event is a Mars/Neptune opposition. This is not a day to stage an important campaign when you care strongly about the outcome…except, perhaps on the battlefield of love, and even then the course of events may be be unclear, while in progress and as the dust is settling. Illusory competition, confused or misguided motivations, even dream lovers can surface under this weird mix of hard and soft. One guiding image is shooting arrows into a fog. Who knows what you’re shooting into, or what the arrows will hit. Involve yourself in spiritual and artistic pursuits, or in activities that you can take lightly, and you’ll fare better. Game-playing suits the energy well.
Saturday: All of the day’s aspects involve the Moon, and few are major. The overnight hours link us to a flow of love and grace. Late morning invites sharing, meaningful communication. The evening provides perspective, like it or not, on obligations and ties that hold us down or back. Meanwhile, Jupiter is stirring the last degree of Pisces ever more, whipping up emotional waves and sending us into incredible highs and lows. Excitement’s building, and we’re all eager to move beyond them. The first firecrackers may well start sounding, like kids getting a head start on the 4th of July. Nap during the day if you can; sleep is not going to be deep and refreshing tonight.
Sunday: The big activity all occurs before dawn EDT. The Moon touches Jupiter, moves into Aries and meet Uranus. Then, only minutes later, Jupiter starts its tour of the zodiac over again. It’s not a recipe for rest. If you do dream, your dreams are going to explode with energy and adventure. This is the kind of night when people jump out of bed at three AM (2:30 is going to be more like it, actually) and tackle home improvement projects they’ve been putting off. Enormous headway can occur before the sun rises. As for the rest of the day, we’ll all be running around with the pedal stuck to the metal. Nerves and tempers will wear out and likely snap. Choose your battles. Steer your energy into a direction you want to go — toward the future, please.
