Significant Planetary Aspects for:

Weekly Weather June 14-20, 2010

We have entered the terrain of the summer: pervasive, life-altering, highly motivating change. It’s erupting all around, sometimes and tragically literally. (Jupiter’s entry into Aries and approach to Uranus last week set off wind storms in some parts of the US and coincided with devastating explosions in others.) But as much as some people have been fearing what this shift will bring, the early returns of this change have generally been beneficial and fun. It’s dropping unexpected breaks into our lap. it’s speeding up the pace of life, and how. (How’s your sleep been lately, anyway?) And it’s blowing open doors and possibilities and most of all our perspectives.

This week promises more fireballs, fireworks, eruptions, explosions and bursts of energy, excitement, enthusiasm, anger and passion. All of them point to the future, either by clearing out the old or by lighting a fire under or in us. We’ve all already been catapulted into free agent status, motivated to act more with our own interests in mind. Haven’t you found yourself less concerned about what other people are thinking or doing? They’re going back onto the radar now. This week, Venus comes along and carries the change energies into our relationships, our financial transactions and our attitudes about possessions, values and exchanges.

Venus, goddess of love, money and all our favorite things, moves on Monday from mommy-esque Cancer into grand and glorious Leo. All the world’s a stage to Leo, and this is just fine with Venus, and how. She’s whipping out her furs, jewels and makeup kit for her latest tour of duty. She loves the bright lights, glitz and attention Leo encourages, its bent for generous gestures and gifts, and its playfulness, glamour and flair for the dramatic. She’s fiery and life-loving as can be here, out to have a good time indeed, and she’s going to encounter a lot that appeals to the larger than life quality this sign affords her. That’s because she’s now making her way through the territory that has been criss-crossed since October by her cosmic consort Mars, the god of war. He has prepared the way for her stay in Leo this summer, so she’s bound to come across spoils of war, trinkets, gifts and payoffs, all of which spring from his efforts over the past eight months. Developments you were looking for then — developments that you have probably given up on — may only now surface, and in ways, times and forms that you will not expect.

Our hearts will, at minimum, process and benefit from all the tilling that Mars has done in the Leo area of our charts. And activity is bound to be hopping in our social lives and our bank accounts. Venus is playing with matches with the guys over in the first degree of Aries. When she trines Uranus on Monday and Jupiter on Tuesday, passion and energy will surge through her domain. Walk through this time with your heart wide open and full of gratitude and appreciation, and you will encounter wonder after wonder — each of which is launching relationships and dynamics that will accompany us in this new phase of life. Surprises will abound — windfalls, lucky breaks, new associations and attitudes about the people already in our lives, happy twists and turns in existing liaisons, maybe even some wishes come true. This meetup could easily ignite situations that have been flirting with combustion (most likely in a fun, welcome and beneficial way).

That’s recipe enough in itself for fireworks in romance, but it’s not the only influence smiling down on lovers. It’s coinciding with another trine, between Mars and Pluto, the two power planets. Venus’ consort and the ruler of our drive and motivation is pooling efforts with the lord of our deepest and most compelling desires. This is a grand-scale acting out of the new relationship between heart and will, or feminine and masculine. The feminine is leading, while the masculine is following and implementing. This one has a heavy quality of inevitability, or unavoidability, or fate. It realigns personal desires and will with a force far greater than our individual impulses. Pluto in Capricorn has been raising the question of who’s in charge, us or our possessions, and this week will instigate another round of reconsidering that question and clearing out closets and clutter. It targets other attachments as well. These coinciding trines will flush out triangulations and ease the amputating of one partner for a more magnetic, tantalizing, irresistible one. especially once Venus and Pluto make direct contact in an adjustment aspect on Thursday. Because Venus and Pluto both rule desires (earthly and primal) and money, profound, liberating shifts and choices will also happen easily (and permanently) in financial arrangements, ventures and attitudes about what we value most.

We’ll see where this is all leading by the end of the weekend, when Venus meets up with her own lover Mars in a growth aspect on Sunday. It promises to be a lively, fun and entertaining journey. Wherever we land by the end of it is likely to be different than we’re expecting starting out on Monday. Even if it’s roughly what we foresee, the path that takes us there will twist and turn, take our breath away and leave us with big, big smiles — and quite the bounty in our hearts and bank accounts. The life we’ve ordered is arriving, and so are companions and resources to help us enjoy it.

Monday: It’s a day of surprises, gifts, excitement, play, sparking and more, thanks to Venus trining Uranus. Notice who pops in, drops in, shows up, crosses your path or switches gear. This is the sort of day when you could be running errands, trip and look up into the face of someone you’ve been hoping for, whether you were previously acquainted or not. A void of course Moon come evening (8:39 PM – 11:55 PM EDT) eases us into a wind-down from the excitement. Saturn offers calm and grounding to launch the void, but the air stirs up afterward as the Moon meets up with Venus. It will be hard not to replay all the events of the day over and over and over. The energy is not exactly conducive to sleep, but it should encourage sheer delight at being alive.

Tuesday: It’s global instant gratification, self-indulgence day — or will feel like it! Venus is trining Jupiter; Mars is trining Pluto. Desires are larger-than-life, irresistible and high-stakes — in other words, HUGE. You’ll have a deep level itch begging to be scratched, and someone’s going to step up for the job. Contacts are made and alliances fall into place that have formidable benefits, financially and emotionally.

Wednesday: So much has already happened this week, and we’re only two days into it. Now our minds play catch up. Today’s impulse is to think and talk and gather information about all those shiny new developments. Go for it. You’ll turn up information that fleshes out back story for a lot that’s happened in a flash.

Thursday: Choices, choices. One or two of this week’s developments hit a crossroads. Will you go this way or that? What path will that enticing new connection take — friends? (Please don’t say “just friends.” “Just” is an insultingly belittling term. The fact that you choose not to sleep with someone does not make that relationship less valuable; in fact, that choice can often safeguard and prolong the connection.) Or something else? The either-or choice may be between people, or offers, or jobs, or other alliances. Either path is likely to be intense, and each has undeniable attractions. Which one better fits your personal priorities?

Friday: There are no planetary aspects today. The skies are giving us a stretch for catching up emotionally and consciously assimilating what we’ve seen blow open in our lives. We’re not comfortable yet, in our skins or with how these new situations are going to fit in. Even if we like what’s happening — and be honest; that is your reaction to a lot of it — we’re still tingling with nervous energy. It may help to sit quietly periodically, clear your mind and breathe.

Saturday: Something tells you that coasting is not going to be an option today, at least not at the start. Jupiter and Uranus are meeting by declination, turning up the heat on the fieriness that they’ve been unleashing, and setting off more excitement and fireworks. It’s time to answer or take responsibility for your choices, act maturely and appropriately (first of all, for yourself) and commit a course of action. Guidance and inspiration flow easily as the day goes on. The evening is spectacularly suited for artistic pursuits, rest, relaxation and vege-ing.

Sunday: Look back over the month and tally up all the breakthroughs you’ve had already. Then look back at this week alone. Think about where you were, what you were wanting, and what state your finances and heart were in last weekend. Where are they now? How have they opened up? They’re filling in the spaces that you cleared out. Marvel over your new circumstances. Do not take them for granted. Show gratitude.
