Significant Planetary Aspects for:

Kathy is offering a 30-minute reading of how this summer’s change energies are affecting you at the special rate of $90, good for bookings scheduled and paid by August 15, 2010.

We’re still in the birth canal between eclipses, a not entirely comfortable corridor with no exit but the one that will deposit us onto a fast track to the next huge phase of life. Much as we’d like to flee, we can’t move or exit any more quickly than the process will allow. The slowness is allowing (forcing?) us to sit in the complex emotions that have been and continue to be stirred. This week, thankfully, the skies give us something to do besides brew and stew, as they toss down plenty of material to occupy our minds and hearts.

It’s a bit of a review session, actually. It’s delivering information and payoffs for a couple of processes we’ve undergone in the past couple of years, all of which will play into the relaunch growing out of the Cancer solar eclipse this weekend. Shifts in three planets are contributing to the review session.

The week starts with the first one, Uranus stationing retrograde at the first degree of Aries on Monday. This is a critical degree, the first degree of the zodiac and of the cardinal (self-starting) signs, on the World Axis. Planetary action on this axis has broad implications and affects all of us, individually and as a collective, and it doesn’t take much scratching around in your memory to come up with examples of breakthroughs and breakdowns that have happened since the planet of revolution, innovation and unconventional perspectives entered Aries in the last days of May. Uranus ignited a new 84-year chapter then, with booster rockets kicking in when Jupiter, the planet of expansion, met up with him in the first week of June. Uranus is now slowing retracing this explosion-rocked territory between now and August 14, when he dips back into Pisces (and the end of the zodiac) until mid-March of next year and does some final clean-up on the saga we’ve been living since March of 2003. While he’s retrograding in Aries — for the rest of this week and this month and into August — he’s giving a second look at developments that have burst open, apart or onto the scene since May 28. This terrain is still new and unstable, so fledgling situations may change shape quite suddenly. Aspects of your life that have remained untouched so far may also turn volatile. Because Uranus is unpredictable, the most that can be said with certainty is that your thinking is in for shake-ups wherever Aries falls in your chart.

On Friday, Mercury moves from Cancer to Leo, which takes communication out of touchy-feely waters and throws them into warm, high-drama fires. Leo generally gives our communication a fun, playful and childlike (sometimes childish) touch and inspires us to get up and get moving. Well, maybe not moving, exactly, since Leo is fixed and runs to what some people might call lazy, but it will be vibrant at minimum. This time, Mercury’s time in Leo has an additional flavor, because the messenger is moving over territory that Mars worked over from last October through this May. Information is likely to pop up that pertains to, energizes and possibly explains all manner of developments during that time. We may be inspired to do something creatively with or about some of those developments as well.

On Saturday, the goddess of love, money and creativity moves from Leo and into Virgo. Venus takes on an earth mother tone in this sign, into into natural fibers, earthy comfort and sensible nutrition, running everything through her discriminating, analytical mind and looking out in very practical ways for the well-being of the people and possessions she cherishes. She is entering the territory that Saturn has been working over since the beginning of September 2007, with a break from last September through the beginning of April this year. During this time Saturn has been giving ongoing lessons in the importance of building intact boundaries, taking care of our own gardens and business and leaving other people’s to them to worry about, and insuring that our own houses and foundations are in order before we reach out to assist anyone. It’s worth pointing out that the ruler of relationships is entering this territory just before Saturn moves onto the sign of relationships, Libra, which will happen on the 21st. With Venus in this sign, we’ll begin applying the Saturn in Virgo lessons to our relationships before Saturn moves his focus to relationships for the next couple of years.

Given that much of the current emotional upheaval directly involves relationships, Venus’ shift could well help ground us now. There’s a mourning, weepy tone to what a lot of people are experiencing. Whether the surface trigger is taking the form of family trouble, or disappointment in romance, the tumult boils down to wanting to feel loved and wanted — and not trusting that we are or will be in a way that we accept as meaningful. This week, Venus delivers tonics and no-nonsense lectures, showing us what is healthy in our lives and making us aware that some of what we’re mourning was not really good for us, no matter how much we thought we wanted it. She steels us to use discernment in our treatment and expectation of others, she points out where there’s room for improvement, and she is handing out gold stars for jobs well done.

Pay attention this week to what is happening in your exchanges, whether heart-based or financial. See if you don’t find yourself reaping benefits from — and gravitating to — responsible actions that respect boundaries (yours, especially). Saturn has been telling us that it doesn’t do anyone good if we give to the point of depleting ourselves, or run around on an empty tank. He’s been stressing the importance of putting on our own air mask first before assisting the people traveling with us. Venus in Virgo repeats the message and shows why this approach is very much worth our while. This week is putting final touches on the groundwork for the final Saturn/Uranus opposition, which will occur at the first degree of Libra/Aries, on the relationship axis, on the 26th. What transpires now, and particularly our attitudes toward it, will directly inform how we navigate the relationship tests and restructuring that happen at the end of the month. After them, a new paradigm will be in place, one that proceeds from intactness of self and allows partners to stand alongside each other, instead of enmeshing in dependency.

Then, on Sunday, we all get the massive power-up of the Cancer Solar Eclipse. It is another powerful surge forward in the home, family, security and career issues that we have been grappling with since last July. (The prior ones occurred on July 21 of last year and January 15 of this one.) This one has the direct support and participation of Mars, the planet that rules our motivation, drive and use of energy. All the experiences of the past two weeks lead to this, the exit point from the corridor of we have been traveling through since the lunar eclipse of June 26. Now we get to do something with all the revelations, disclosures, realizations and whatever we have been making of the emotions in which we’ve been floating. The point of this discomfort is coming to consciousness, and we have every incentive to move forward on it and lay tracks in the direction that we want our lives to grow. We have a much clear vision of the people who are coming along for the next leg of the journey and of the role that each is playing. Some goodbyes will be solidified; some structures will be altered; some new ventures will be shored up and amplified. Be very mindful of where you place your attention. A solar eclipse applies Miracle-Gro to intentions and plans that roll out from it. For more on the eclipse, read the moon report on the site.

Monday: Uranus starts his about-face, against a backdrop of personal confusion, social activity and desires, unspoken and voiced, for tangible reassurance. Use the Moon void (5:25 PM – 8:30 PM EDT) to unhook from any drama or attachments and simply float. By the evening you’ll be more open to the instability and more able to see the personal benefit of various twists and turns. Hold that ability. It will help you as Uranus sets off more firecrackers and explosions in the Aries area of your chart.

Tuesday: This is a lighter day. There are only five aspects, all of which involve to the Moon, and the only two major ones happen when the Sun is out of the sky in the Western Hemisphere. The overnight hours bring clarity about emotional priorities, so take note of where your thoughts head as you start the day. The late night hours (tomorrow, on the East Coast) opens the door to integrating the shifting emotional landscape and your definitions of yourself. In between, mildly discomfitting currents underlie the day, but you do not have to give them power. Be an observer as much as possible.

Wednesday: Another day of all-Moon aspects. This one feels like life is more on track than it was yesterday. Enjoy the positive feedback that Venus in Virgo has on how you are handling relationships and situations reflecting your self-worth. Satisfying messages abound; watch for them. Put paper and pencil by your bed, too. If you’ve been seeking a solution to a problem or insight into a situation, ask for it before you go to sleep.

Thursday: Messages really ramp up today. They begin during the overnight hours, when minds race so fast and furiously that no one’s likely to get much rest. Thought processes and dreams are bursting with creative ideas, novel solutions and happily tilted perspectives. Once we step out into the world, the information that flies reflects our new relationship dynamics and value of ourselves. Be alert, though, for a shift into fantasizing or deception. As the day wears on, it will be easy to be more in tune with non-earthly overtones than with empirical data, so ask for clarity of vision (or reality checks). Welcome evidence of ways in which you may be fooling yourself or engaging in wishful thinking. Even better, channel your energies into artistic pursuits or contemplation this evening. And put paper and pencil by the bed again.

Friday: Our minds make sense of a lot during the overnight hours. Information comes to ground, settles in and inspires mature and responsible courses of action. All of this informs our social interactions and gives them the reassurance and reliability of a favorite pair of slippers, after Mercury enters Leo midday. The messenger’s first act is entering an open channel to Uranus. Keep an open mind in the evening and there is no telling what information will drop into your head, your path or your lap. The only thing that is certain is that your thinking will be tweaked.

Saturday: Venus enters Virgo, during a Moon void that kicks off from Saturn, and suspends us in issues of healthy choices, boundaries and values. Her first order of business is hitting a crossroads with Uranus. Either route requires a change in perspective. One direction may involve breaking out of an existing financial or personal relationship, or taking a chance on a new and untried direction. Choose the path that gives you the most freedom to be who you truly are. The day will provide an opportunity to push yourself forward appropriately.

Sunday: The solar eclipse is not until mid-afternoon, and quite a bit happens before then. The build-up takes us through an echo of Thursday’s reality vs. illusion questioning, then whips up calls, conversations and messages. They engage us so easily that we will probably not see the moment of truth coming — a conversation, piece of information or a question that puts us to a deep, profound and lasting choice. It all dovetails with the path that we’re striking out on under the Cancer New Moon, a path that reflects our updated agenda for crafting our private and public places in the world. Talk gets edgy, pushy and outright aggressive as the Sun and Moon begin to separate. Each person gets his own individual person, so no shoving someone onto yours, please, or picking a fight if his path appears to be heading in a different direction. Think of what your reaction would be if someone tried either on you. Your future is your goal. The right people are coming along and will meet up with you when the times are right.
