Weekly Weather Report

Significant Planetary Aspects for:

On Sat., July 17, Kathy is the guest of author, spiritual warrior and fellow Aquarian Gloria Ponziano on her radio show Talking With Gloria, online at WTMY.com and on AM 1280 in the Sarasota, FL area. 9-11 AM EDT. We’ll be taking questions from callers, so talk to us!

How are you feeling? No polite “fine, thanks” responses, please. The past couple of weeks haven’t been a cakewalk for anyone. So sit with that question and be honest. You don’t have to give an answer to me or any other person. Just acknowledge to yourself what is and has been rolling around inside of you. That points to the foundation issues that have been bubbling up for attention. Then take note of where and what your most vibrant impulse is. Is it anger? Frustration? Excitement? Impatience? Determination? That points to what you want to do about the foundation issues. Don’t worry if you can’t put words to any of this, or if you suspect that something more or deeper is going on than you can wrap your brain around. (There is.) What’s important is letting that impulse come to the surface and following it wherever it takes you. That’s the assignment for this week. It’s time for action.

You’re chomping at the bit for it, too. We all are. We’ve all been suspended in separate-but-equal processes that stirred and pulled to the surface all manner of needs and programming and goals and amorphous concepts that have been lurking in our cells. We’ve been in a corridor with no escape — a sidewise elevator, as Stephanie Azaria has aptly described it, and now the conveyor has turned into Willie Wonka’s glass elevator, shooting us into wide open skies over a new and glorious landscape. That’s where we’re flying this week, looking down at what is stretching out below and tinkering with the elevator controls to see if we can nudge it in one direction or another. And whaddaya know, the heavens are letting us play for a change. They are giving very, very little to draw focus away from the exhilaration and call of this experience.

This is a surprisingly quiet week, in terms of new elements being introduced into the equation. Nothing changes signs or directions. There is only one major planetary aspect — a Venus/Pluto trine on Tuesday, which dovetails appropriately with the primal nature of what we’re grappling with — and very few minor ones. The Moon is talking to everyone, of course, continuing the processing, processing, processing of last Sunday’s solar eclipse in Cancer, which she rules. And that’s what we’re sitting with now. That eclipse didn’t simply happen on one day and fade into history. It’s the centerpiece of the entire week (and the foundation for the next six months, at minimum). We’re in the earliest stages of its unfolding, so give it time.

The solar eclipse is activating our deepest need for our own special place somewhere in the world, a place where we feel loved, nourished, wanted and safe. We are each of us looking for home, on this planet, within our families and within our own skin. Many of us had a lot of uncomfortable realizations and painful communications in the past two weeks, which rubbed our noses in how far short our lives are falling from what we so deeply need. Whether it took the form of boredom with a marriage, financial problems, life-derailing family responsibilities, a significant death or a romantic partner proving unreliable, we hit the end of the line on the issues it stirred and cracked open to other approaches, concepts, beliefs and structures. Other people, in contrast, had decades-old life path wishes fall full blown into their laps, and are now coming to grips with implementing the reality of dreams come true. No matter which happened to you, we are all building foundations (from alliances, choice of community and jobs down to deep-level reworking of our psyches) with the potential to develop into security, however we define it, with staying power. With this in mind, consciously or not, each of us is naturally gravitating toward targets in the areas where Cancer falls in our chart, which will be vibrating by the light of this eclipse until the next one occurs here next July. Each of us is particularly motivated to take action toward building this security, because of Mars’ participation in Sunday’s eclipse. The avenue and mode of expression that action is likely to come through involves the areas of life associated with where Mars in Virgo falls in our chart. Though the specific action varies by person, some general trends are probable. It is step-by-step or attentive to detail. (Don’t get lost in the details, though — keep moving!) It calls on discriminating, analytical, evaluative thought. (Don’t get lost in your head, though — keep moving!) It inspires you to handle the situation better than you did the last time you looked in on it. (Don’t get lost in striving for perfection, though, or, heaven forbid, criticizing yourself — keep moving!)

Here’s how the process is likely to roll out emotionally this week. Watch for messages on Monday that excite your heart and engages in this process — a treasure map, perhaps, or a sneak peak at a destination or way station. Wednesday, you embrace something of great value, from dear companions to a prized possession to your own worth; the form is less important than the emotional sustenance and joy you experience, which tell you that personal happiness is part of the new life you are building. By Thursday, your heart gets solidly on board with those impulses to act you’ve been sensing, and you’ll find yourself doing something about them without a lot of forethought. Plans you’ve been mulling over will begin rolling out from you, likely incrementally rather than in huge leaps. If your thinking has been less defined, more along the lines of “I’m sick of [X],” you may simply start kicking debris out of your path. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Whatever kicks in, follow your heart, with your personal well being as the guideline. Friday finds you taking your new direction seriously and committing to it, then being treated to an entirely unexpected way of looking at where you are heading. By Sunday, a higher perspective pours into you, and possibly a wonderful dose of creative inspiration as well. Heart and soul are in this together.

Monday: The Moon makes the rounds of the skies before ending her travels with a late-afternoon conjunction to Mercury. All the day’s activities dovetail into that moment of heart-mind clarity and unity. Keep that in mind as you careen from the perspective-altering schedule disruptions of the morning through primal impulses and self-justified self-indulgence to passing irritations. Everything is prying out data for you.

Tuesday: This is a relationship turning point day. Watch for a choice to pop up (maybe only in your attitude) that pits an urge for immediate gratification against the craving for what you really, truly want. On the one hand, the moment is all there is; on the other, does this particular moment’s pleasure line up with your heart’s desire? Perhaps you are being invited to dream even bigger and not … settle. Or perhaps to give up on an old dream and embrace one that better suits you now. Whatever you choose, prepare to go deep! The archetypes of desire, Venus and Pluto, are playing nice with each other today. Passions flare; high-stakes deals are struck; temptations are irresistible; triangles heat up. You’re in for an all-consuming experience, as deep and intense as you dare.

Wednesday: The two major aspects of the daylight hours occur in relatively quick succession mid-afternoon, when the Moon trines Pluto and then joins Venus almost two hours later. Fierce, clear emotions and magnetic attractions dominate the afternoon and send us into the embrace of something or someone that pleases us greatly. It’s a payoff, replay or assimilation in some way of what we experienced yesterday. And it plays into the new direction we’re heading, but don’t fixate on trying to figure that out. Just enjoy.

Thursday: Seat belts on; keep your knees loose; adopt whatever metaphoric stance leaves you braced but limber. If you’re too stiff, you could get whiplash from the shifting winds in the world and inside you throughout the day. The only major aspects of the day come in the evening, when the Moon joins Mars and, three hours later, makes an opportunity aspect to the Sun. This is the evening your heart and your willpower get on the same page and lead you straight to a doorway that’s beneficial for you in a very personal way.

Friday: Be on the lookout for fallout from Tuesday. We’re treated to a little distance from the events and cravings of that day. Information and messages are likely that give an alternate viewpoint, or show something the intensity blinded us to, or provide some illuminating commentary. Don’t shoot the messenger, and move through any negative reaction to what you learn. The information is important, especially if it loosens the hook of wanting, longing, yearning, craving…

Saturday: The day is relatively quiet. Chattiness abounds in the morning but sputters mid to late afternoon as we hit patches of discomfort, walls, naysaying, judgment or someone attempting to be helpful by pointing out responsibilities or downsides that you, in their estimation, have failed to see. If you find yourself feeling, hearing or experiencing static, pause before blaming or attacking the person you perceive as the source. Could something in your approach/mindset/thinking play a role? Probably. Put something to write with and on by the bedside.

Sunday: The night is hardly restful. You’re likely to be processing unspoken aggressions and resentments, as well as what we perceive as demands by others. Frenetic mental energy could well cause you to bolt upright in bed with startling realizations or the (not entirely welcome) answer to a problem. Your psyche is scheduled to calm down right about brunchtime, so head back under the covers if your plans allow. Otherwise, breathe, ask for insight and wait for it to pour in. The edginess of the afternoon serves to channel you away from wrong choices and into ones consistent with the future you want to build. The evening invites you to sink into a meaningful experience.
