“Let the sun shine” is the theme of the week, above and below, within and without. The week is a time for outer and inner warmth to flourish and be enjoyed. Up in the sky, the Sun is blazing into his home base of Leo, which he’ll reach Thursday, drying up the watery emotions and cellular memories that poured forth under last week’s Cancer solar eclipse. He’s making the air warm and tempting, revving up memories of the not-so-distant past when summer was a time for carefree fun in the sun. Within each of us, the inner light that the Sun represents is burning strong and bright and asking for greater and greater expression and exposure. We’re coming out of our shells (our physical homes and families as well as the defenses and armor that protect our hearts). Get ready to bask in the sun that’s up in the sky and let more and more out of the counterpart that shines forth from within you. By the Aquarius Full Moon at the end of the week, we’ll all be challenged to be our true selves in group settings — at the same time as that challenge is mounting in our one-on-one relationships, as Saturn and Uranus inch toward their final opposition at the beginning of next week.

The skies are much more active this week than they were last, when they did little to draw focus from the Cancer solar eclipse rolling out its influence. Three major bodies shift course in major ways this week, all of which ushers us to the threshold of Sunday and Monday, when all of the current cosmic change aspects converge and changes become both real and very, very personal.

In order of appearance: Saturn and the Sun change signs Wednesday and Thursday, then Jupiter changes directions on Friday. We will feel all of it, and all of it will push us ever deeper into embracing and living change.

Our next big round of life lessons get underway when Saturn enters Libra on Wednesday for the next two years. We got a preview of what these lessons might entail when he first visited Libra from October 29 of last year through April 7. Saturn always requires us to act responsibly in and commit to whatever area of life he’s visiting. These demands will now move into the arena of relationships, but with a twist. His entry into Libra’s relationship turf comes with a tension and nervousness that signals the lesson — or this area of life — won’t be business as usual this time around. The big kick-off festivities for this transit build over the course of the week and take place next Monday, when he completes the fifth of five paradigm-altering oppositions with Uranus. For the past few years, Saturn has been teaching the importance of maintaining boundaries and taking care of personal well-being first before we can truly be of service to others. Our thinking, ingrained habits and existing arrangements have been shaken, worked over vigorously and freed repeatedly since November 2008, when he and Uranus completed their first opposition in the signs of Virgo and Pisces. With Saturn’s entry into Libra, their standoff is ending up on the relationship axis, which pits the individual against the partner or the union. In the first corner, we have the planet of change, awakening, insights and new perspectives, being fanned by self-indulgent, expansive Jupiter, in the me-first, self-motivated, self-starting, impulsive, free-agent sign of Aries. In the other corner, we have the planet of structure, laws, commitment and the status quo, in the sign of relationships, reciprocity and legal agreements. How are those two polar opposites to be reconciled? The responsibility and commitment that’s called for in relationships now begins with extending the same first to the self. In other words, every relationship starts with the self — the intact, healthy, responsible self — and only then shifts focus to the other.

From now on, the fact that a relationship or alliance or agreement exists is not alone sufficient reason for staying in it. For any arrangement with another person to continue or come into being at this point, we must be fully and freely ourselves in it. If we can’t be, the arrangement or its existing ground rules will shatter (which has probably already been going on in your life). Instead of the enmeshed, codependent, boundary-blurred meldings we had in the past, relationships from this point on will consist of two individuals standing next to each other, because they choose and want to be together. This week moves us along the path to that seemingly utopian, but ultimately workable dynamic, by stressing the “be yourself” end of the equation. Monitor your interactions and your motivations. You’ll notice it’s becoming harder and harder to play old games or follow old rules … assuming they even capture your interest in the first place.

More and more on this topic will surface after Jupiter stations retrograde on Friday and spends about two months revisiting the changes he’s been accelerating since the end of May. He and Uranus have had an incendiary impact, lighting fuses, tossing firebombs, setting off fireworks and in general prompting all manner of unexpected and primal situations, agendas and goals to ignite. Once those two planets are both retracing their recent journeys , they will trigger many a twist and turn, rekindle flames that have been sputtering, prolong second looks and pull eruption after eruption of lava and steam that have been brewing and boiling below the surface. With this volatile combination traveling in hard, hard aspect to the planet of structure (Saturn) and the planet of transformation in the sign of structure (Pluto in Capricorn), we are in a major construction — or rather, reconstruction — zone all summer long. We can run but we can’t hide these days, least of all from ourselves.

Against this backdrop, the Sun moves into Leo on Thursday. As with the new flavor in Saturn’s visit to Libra, the Sun’s foray into his home sign will be different than usual this time around as well. Since he was last home, his turf has seen significant activity. The Sun will be moving through territory that was worked over by Mars from October through May. Think about the impulses, situations, projects, passions, frustrations and anger that sparked, flickered or flared over those months. You should be able to pick out a theme or two, if not also a man or two who played a noticeable role. Some form of payoff involving them has recently come into your life while Venus covered that territory. Now comes the time to take whatever the Mars in Leo transit set in motion, polish it up and show it off. In a sense it’s as if Mars scruffed up the Leo area of our life with sandpaper, to give it traction, and now we can grasp it better and do something with it that shows us to best advantage.

All these shifts deliver us into the light of the Aquarius Full Moon on Sunday, the eve of the final Saturn/Uranus opposition. Aquarius being a detached, mental and masculine sign, you’d expect a Full Moon in it to have a lower emotional content than in other signs. Maybe not this time around. The Full Moon is making contact with every single change agent and aspect in the sky — Saturn opposing Jupiter and Uranus, and all of them squaring Pluto. The emotional cresting under this Full Moon will not be subtle or nuanced, but more likely will be intense, profound, revealing, purifying, cauterizing, clarifying, focusing, streamlining, et cetera, et cetera. Nothing is letting us slip back into business as used to be usual and, frankly, we don’t really want that anymore anyway. Our challenge now is being fully ourselves no matter what the situation. This Moon calls on us to be fully ourselves in the context of group associations and community, while the Saturn/Uranus opposition pushes us to do the same thing in our one-on-one relationships. It bears repeating: We can run but we can’t hide, least of all from ourselves. For more on the Full Moon, read my report on the site this weekend.

Monday: Information, minds and messages are electric, nervous and outright jittery today. Let the sound waves resonate and some very interesting data may shake out. Sitting back and allowing isn’t going to come naturally, though. It will be easy for your brain to blow statements out of proportion, or latch onto a tidbit and chew it into a mangled state, or take what might have been meant as a simple, passing comment and plunge you into obsession or paranoia or a parade of your worst fears. Forewarned is forearmed.

Tuesday: Choice will again strongly determine how you experience today. This time the alternatives are more fuzzy. One path is escapist, less than honest, maybe even a bit delusional. The other is a higher road, connected an approach that transcends the mundane, whether through compassion, or an artistic vision, or connection to spirit. Because the paths aren’t going to have well-marked road signs, ask before the day gets underway for your own personal GPS to direct you to the route you want.

Wednesday: It’s not likely to be a light-hearted day of joke telling and goofing off. Saturn enters Libra today and begins a two year review course in relationship agreements, definitions and dynamics. He’s now officially in the final approach to his final opposition with Uranus, which takes place next Monday. Note the tone of your important interactions today and the people who cross your path. What and who feel like the old ways, and what and who feel like the way of your future?

Thursday: The Sun moves into Leo and starts his tour of his home with a happy little conference with Saturn. Even though so much of life feels so unstable, pay attention to how fundamentally fine you are with yourself. There is reason today to feel great about who you are, and an opportunity to ground that feeling into something solid and lasting. You are supposed to be yourself, just as much as you are supposed to be here, now, and an offer comes today that confirms both statements. It might not be huge or attention-getting, but it could be accepted by no one other than you.

Friday: Jupiter goes stationary retrograde today and begins his slow retracing of the past seven weeks. The prospect of this second look stirs optimism rather than dread. Some personally beneficial enlightenment is definitely in the offing. A big bolt of it hits early in the day, cracks our shells and inspires us to let ever more of ourselves out in the open. Lunges forward might not get too far just yet, though. Impatience, frustration, a roadblock or a stalemate is possible as the day progresses. Ask to see how any of these benefit you. Sometimes a delay opens the way to something better, whether in timing, circumstances or ultimate ease of motion.

Saturday: The Jupiter/Pluto square is exact today. Something deep and powerful breaks through the surface, possibly feeling like it’s being pulled out, possibly extracting more of something that started to peek through last week, and possibly coaxing out more of the truth of a situation that came to light under the June 26 lunar eclipse. Nothing that erupts can be put back; it’s all coming out to where light and air will purify and clean it. Terrains are being permanently transformed. Whatever happens is for your ultimate freeing and benefit. Trust that.

Sunday: This is truly a day of rest, with a longer void of course Moon (10:21 AM – 3:39 PM EDT) than we usually enjoy right now. The Moon trine Mars mid-morning, revs our engines and ambitions before shooting us into a form-free stretch that is designed for the opposite of productivity. Work off the physical energy — sports and outdoor activities would be appropriate — but hold off pushing any big projects or plans. Much will move more easily and more quickly once we get into late afternoon and the winds, fires and impulses of change carry us into the Full Moon late evening (9:38 PM EDT). Go with the lava flow, with this proviso: It’s to lead you deeper into groups and relationships that welcome the real you with open arms, and out of the ones that want you to be someone you no longer are, or never were in the first place.
