Many people have reached out to me this week expressing their horror at the abominable events that occurred in the Capitol building and because they’re exhausted and depressed, frightened, and overwhelmed.  The relentlessness of 2020 just won't let go and it is taking a toll on everyone.  While we have known that the disruptive days in the United States were going to be around for a while, knowing does not make it any easier, does not make our stress levels any lower, and does not make our hearts any more peaceful.
We are exhausted. Exhausted mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  There is no way around that. We also know the dark days will continue as the US finds some kind of resolution, some kind of healing, and some kind of newness to carry us into the New Age. Not all of the days coming will be dark, thankfully, but enough will be a heavy burden, and our hearts are already heavy.
Our world is changing and we are changing with it. We must remember that we are no longer quiet acquiescent bystanders; we are active participants in how we create this new world.  Every decision moving forward must be from the heart and not from the ego or the lower mind. Does it benefit all of us? Or does it just benefit me? This is our opportunity to reformat who we are in the world and who want to see in our own mirror.  In doing so, we create the New World.
One thing I can say without equivocation is that our future lies in Unity, not in division. If we want peace then we need to find ways to unite, and Union begins within.  Over the years we have been taught methods that are essential for navigating these tumultuous days.  Utilizing the Observer’s Perch allows us to step out of the fray and change our perspective and our need to judge.  That perch allows our equilibrium to be reclaimed and embraced, and from a place of equilibrium, we can move forward in Unity.
We must not forget the importance of the Breath.  Deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth refresh and recharge the body, allowing the body to settle.  Many of us, when under stress, breathe shallowly, using only the top of our lungs instead of our diaphragms.  Take time to consciously breathe with your belly. In for a count of 5, hold for a count of 5, out for a count of 5, and hold for another 5. Repeat.
Utilize the Wholing Ray. Visualize its glorious warm white energy coming in through the crown of your head, all the way through your body and out through your feet, washing away all resistance and asking Mother Earth to transform all that has been washed from you into Love.  Allow this Ray to bathe you in Wholeness, refreshing, recharging, and renewing your Be-ing.
Allow your emotions to move through you for they are energy in motion, designed to inform us and move us forward, but they must be acknowledged to allow them that movement.  Resisting their expression only makes your struggle harder.  Scream in a bathroom, cry, yell, journal, mourn, walk - do whatever you can to allow these emotions their process in a healthy and safe way.
Reach out to others of like mind and heart. You are not alone.  We are a community, and as such, stand by with open hands and hearts for each other. My email address is included in my bio on this site if you would like to email me.
All of the usual self-care options apply here too.  Make sure you are caring for your body with sleep, nutritious food, and movement. Make sure you are feeding your heart and soul with prayer, meditation, whatever makes your heart sing.  As I have said to you before, self-care is the most loving gift you can give yourself.  Find those things that make your heart sing and allow yourself their gift, even if only for a few minutes.  Our Lights cannot shine very brightly if we are not taking care of them.
We chose to be here for this, so it is important to keep that thought ever-present.  Your glorious Light, each and every one of you, is essential.  While the world turns over, we are holding the framework.  Never underestimate your importance each and every day and especially when the going gets tough, like this last week. This has been a difficult time for all of us but we must keep going, remembering that we are the Light on Earth.
And so I am told:
Even in the darkest of nights, the Light still shines.  This must never be forgotten. The darkest hidden aspects of the United States are being exposed and released and will continue to do so until all is brought to Light. This is sacred, do you see? This act of baring all that is hidden is the ultimate act of bowing down before the One and becoming only the Soul that you are. This process begins in the United States but will encompass the world before it completes itself, washing all foundational darkness away.  This is the agreement and the promise.  What exhausts now is the process of letting go of all you thought true, including who you think you are.  The Ego has been lost in a dream and thinking you are finding your self in a nightmare.  My beloved children, instead you are awakening! We rejoice for your awakening, and remain by your sides, each and every one of you. That which you have held within your heart as the perfect peace is being made manifest with every step every day.  But first, you must see with all senses the “reality” that has been wrought with shadow, fear, anger, hate, and greed. Inner discord mis-creates.  This mis-creation must be taken apart, piece by piece, before the foundation of the New World can be fully established.  This same process occurs within you, creating depression and fatigue.  Allow it no purchase; instead fearlessly allow it to pass through each of you, taking mis-creation with it.  Heart and mind unite bringing insight and higher vision.  This Awakening is divinely sanctioned and acknowledged.  indeed, it is your most sacred obligation.  You are birthing both yourselves and the world in which you live.
Return your focus to your heart, finding there the love you need in these difficult times.  We who guard and guide shower you with love as well.  Within your deepest heart lies a doorway to your truest self.  Allow this door to open and lead you Home.

New Year’s Eve, 2020. Here we are again, at the doorway to a new year. We usually approach this night and the beginning of a new year with anticipation and hope, but this year seems particularly poignant and fraught. We are, for the most part, different people than we were a year ago. We are stronger in many ways and presumably wiser as a result of the catastrophic and incredible year that was 2020.
This year I stand before that new door with a little more hesitation than usual. The chaos of the last year has left us with a great deal that needs to be cleaned up and thrown out, and all of that will take time. And yes, much to be grateful for.
2021 offers us a doorway forward, but first, we must honor the year that was 2020. We will all be forever changed by it. Happy New Year to all of you, with my heartfelt love and appreciation.
And so I am told:
Breathe for your breath will sustain you. Hope because it leads you forward. Sorrow for all that was lost, including human lives, which must be grieved. Release for it opens your heart. Your hearts were designed to remain open, more open and glorious than you can imagine. Prepare yourselves to find out just how much.
Your world has changed and you emerge from the darkness with eyes stunned by the Light. Ease your eyes open for it will take time to adjust your world view and your hard-won knowledge of Self. Breathe to ignite the heart and soul once more. The Shadow that lay over humanity, obscuring all view, is vanishing. What you thought familiar and true will fade away before your fiery eyes. Have no fear when the familiar is forever changed. One cannot have new and true without releasing the bonds of the past. One would no more return to childhood after achieving adulthood. To attempt to turn back now would be the same.
Each of you is new as well. The face in the mirror may look the same, but the awakened spirit and heart within has never before walked this earth. Prepare to find your world has expanded, has been made new and you with it. Each of you is part of something magnificent, something never before experienced, something divine.
Sense what is before you with your hands. Hear with your eyes, and listen with your hearts. Senses expand and become new while wonder and generosity fill the air. Expect nothing but leave room for everything to spring into being.
Rest your hands on the doorway that opens before you, pausing to breathe and acknowledge the enormity of this passing.
Now you are ready to open the door and step forward.

As we wobble toward the end of a most disconcerting year, I do what I do every year and try to take stock of where I have been and what I would like to take with me. One important element of that is to evaluate the space around me.
In the past, I have bemoaned the fact that my home and life didn’t always reflect the spiritual side of me.  In my mind, I saw a very peaceful, zen environment with candles and quiet music playing.  The reality is anything but that.  Dog toys everywhere, grandchildren in and out, there are always a thousand things to do and all of them interrupt that idea I had in my mind of what my life should look like.
But I realized (remembered) that my sacred is mine no matter what it looks.  My sacred space has dogs in it. And cats. And books. And baking. And blessed grandchildren. And my grown children. Friends, one day soon again, I hope. My life, like everybody else’s, has obligations and responsibilities.  My life has interruptions and chaos and mess. Just like your does. Just like everyone.  My life looks like a life well-lived, like a sweater you have owned and worn for decades because you love it.  It is not a perfect life, none are, after all, but it is a good life, and it is certainly one supported by and created from the deep well of the Sacred I carry within my heart.  And yeah, sometimes I even manage to light candles and get music playing.
I have learned to look at everything I do, everything in my house and everyone I encounter through a lens of “is this sacred and if not, why?”  As I write of the importance of doing our own personal work, facing our shadows and so on, I continue doing the same in my own life.  No matter how much work we do there are still layers upon layers (remember the spiral of growth?) of “stuff” to be discovered and brought into the light.  Remember that those you encounter serve as mirrors of yourself. What message or information about yourself do they bring?
With every bit of work and insight into yourself, every bit of clearing you do, your spiritual foundation grows ever stronger, uplifting your life and clearing your energy field.
In these days of chaos and uncertainty, facing ourselves, owning our whole selves and stepping into who we truly are is incredibly important.  We cannot heal our world without this vital step.  Whatever remains unacknowledged and unaddressed, we will take forward with us into the New World.  As we know, this is the end of an Age and the beginning of one, and it is ours to create the world as we want to see.
And so I am told:
There are hard days yet to traverse. The chaos continues and must complete itself.  Do not allow the disruptions around you to mesmerize you so completely that you miss all that is being created at the same time.  The Divine Feminine rises in all her long-awaited glory.  Allow yourself to emulate Her and flow through the coming days, certain of your place in the world and your next right steps.  Division gives way to unity, hearts will open and trust will be born anew. The Light returns.
“Everything... every single thing... that you know to be true about you deserves to be part of the place setting where you sit at the table of life. Should you feel a bit of disequilibrium in accepting all your assets, take a moment to stabilize and get your legs underneath you. Then, walk in the balance that you are.”  Philip Sedgwick

This holiday season carries a particular and unique poignancy, one I don’t ever remember experiencing and am quite sure I will never forget.  No one can question the insanity, upheaval and confusion we have all experienced in 2020, and somehow we have made it to year’s end and the holidays.  I have always loved the holidays but this year, I approach them on my knees, filled with something like humility and awe. I am changed by 2020, as we all are. Something within me broke this year and simultaneously healed.
As I breathe, I am grateful for my body’s ability to take in life-giving oxygen.  As I wrap gifts for family and friends, I give thanks that I am able to do this, as I sit safely in my warm house. As I breathe, I am conscious of my body’s ability to take in life-giving oxygen. As I walk and do yoga, I give thanks that I am well and healthy and able to exercise my body.   As I think about making dinner, I make a donation to Feeding America.  I will never take food for granted again. I will never take others, my body, my health and my safety for granted again.
As I watch the news, and as the counting of the elector's votes was confirmed, and yet still disputed by our mad King trump, I will never take democracy for granted again. I am profoundly grateful that I live in a country where I can vote, and my vote counts.
Yes, I miss my friends and family members I haven’t seen in far too long. I miss them terribly.  It has been a long, hard year for all of us. But overwhelmingly, these last days of 2020, I am struck, over and over and over, by how blessed I am, and I am humbled by that.  I appreciate my friends and family more and more every day. I see them differently now.
And there is the unfathomable loss of life that continues unabated at this point; all of those souls, beloved by others, who are no longer with us. I will never take the lives of those I care about for granted ever again. I will honor each passing of a stranger as I would a friend or family member.  I will honor my own life.
In all of the crazy occurring around us, I can’t help but wonder if maybe we have somehow missed the point.  This is not what has divided us, this crazy year.  We were already divided in our never-ending search for finding that *thing* that makes us better than someone else.  Rich or poor, white or black or Hispanic, Christian or not, whatever the disparity, whatever the criteria, it was never ever about that. We have acted as children with a glittering bauble dangling before us, ever so slightly out of our grasp and certain that it belongs only to *me*.  A certain tunnel vision has gripped us for generations, allowing us to see only what is directly in front of us and now all of that has been stripped away, exposing our entire and unappealing underbelly.
This year came to show us that under the smoke and mirrors and dangling glittery objects, we are all the same.  Covid can kill all of us.  No one is exempt from any of the disasters that have beset us in 2020. No one is better than anyone one else. Money or color or religion or politics doesn’t make anyone better than another.  We are all the same.
Here’s to all who arose, awoke, who opened eyes and hearts, who reached hands out to another.  Here’s to those who sacrificed and gave and gave and gave.  Here’s to those who stood tall and spoke up for justice.  Here’s to those on the front lines of hospitals, fires, storm damage,    natural disasters and social unrest to keep others safe. Here’s to those whose hearts shone with light and love with every breath.  Here’s to all of us this holiday season at the end of 2020.  May we heal ourselves and this beautiful world upon which we live.  May the Light within our hearts grow ever brighter. May we be guided by the desire for Unity and Peace.
Happy Solstice, Happy Every Blessed Holiday, Happy Return to Oneness!
From the One you came, and unto the One you will return. This simple truth underlies all of existence.  You exist, whether you perceive it or not, within Union.  All will begin to perceive soul before personality in the years to come. Life as you have known it is no more but the Light burns ever brighter.  The New World begins, and you with it.
